    Levels of detail

Your welcome Brakie. What actually spurred me into writing this topic was some recent threads on some other forums which shall emain nameless (after all, nothing beats the gauge , right?). The general discussion of those threads was what the best loco manufacturer was and and many...

What do you do with all your boxes?

Thanks for all the input folks. Yet again the Gauge steps up to the plate for the Q&A I need. I found a fantastic source for really sturdy cardboard boxes that you can fit a lot of rolling stock or locomotives. Safety glasses boxes. I work as a security guard in a factory and the...

New blood on the old traction L/O

Heh, that is actually a stack of clear plastic containers thjat those tiny little craft beads come in that I use to organise my Kadee couplers and all the misc. things that go with them like the springs, shims, coupler boxes etc. Works great to keep all those tiy part organised and easily...

    Using decals on structures

Well I know that my dance hall kit by Con Cor came with a rather large amount of decals. Unfortunately they were a bit beyond there time and they disintegrated the minute they hit water. No big loss really, just painted similar ones on the barn for a more rustic effect.

What do you do with all your boxes?

I pretty much have every box from every piece of rolling stock and locomotive I have bought since I got back into the hobby earlier this year. The problem is I am starting to trip over things and I was curious wether or not those of you on the gauge keep your boxes from your kits and such...

    My LHS has been Sold

Yeah, I go to this shop every week sometimes twice a week to look around and see what I can find that I may need or want for my layout. I usually put things like Loco's on layaway for a couple paychecks and get them within a month. Wes was great at customer service and was always...

Looks like the paving crews came through today.....

Yeah it does. It stays pliable pretty much indefinitely so you can actually reroute your roads or roadbed for your track very easily. I had bought two rolls of it (1 roll = 30 ft.) and only used 1 roll of it to do my track so I decided to experiment a bit with using for other things...

Looks like the paving crews came through today.....

DING! DING! DING! Dash 10 got it more or less. It is AMI Instant Roadbed. Which is indeed made from the sticky air conditioner tape used to seal around air conditioner equipment. All it is, is the roadbed with good ole fashioned Play Sand. No paint, no glue, and only took about...

New blood on the old traction L/O

Unfortunartely this is as close as my layout will be able to come to having traction on it due to the setting of a small rural town and all.

Looks like the paving crews came through today.....

Interurban is the closest so far. It is indeed ordinary sand to give the texture. And yes that is a Texaco sign on the dance hall. You gotta love Con Cor kits for the nice signs they include onthe box. I little hint. No glue was harmed in the making of these roads. Belg is...

Looks like the paving crews came through today.....

Now the fun part. Can any of you guess how I made these paved roads and parking lots?

Looks like the paving crews came through today.....

Looks like I finally managed to get some LPB's out of the dance hall long enough to do some paving on my layout.

New blood on the old traction L/O

Didnt mean to nitpick you or anything. I was just wondering if you noticed that or not. Didn't want all your wonderful models derailing and having to go to the repair shop was all. You layout just amazes me with all the detail it has and the overhead and track being live just blows my...

    Levels of detail

Yeah I couldn't resist a deal like that on an Atlas Master loco. I looked it up on the Atlas list and apparently this one was the first of thier last three production releases of the SD-35 they did back around 2000-2001. I am going to see if I can perhaps talk the owner of the LHS...

New blood on the old traction L/O

Those look great Interurban. One question for you. In the next to last picture it looks like the Diesel is leaning really close to the Traction unit and the next shot the boxcar seems to be leaning. Is that just the camra playing tricks or is the track there a little lopsided...

Does Roco make atlas's DCC systems?

I was looking up the decoder manual for my Atlas Locomotive witha 4 function decoder on the Atlas site and noticed that the PDF of the maunal says that it is a Roco decoder. I never knew Atlas and Roco were partnered for the DCC that Atlas sells. I had a chance to get one of the Roco...

    Atlas Turntable??

Wel the guardrails look like they would be there to keep the loco from crashign through what appears to be a wodden deck on that turntable. Somehow I doubt that the wood would stop that diesel from falling into the put below the wood. Great job on the turntable. I really like all the...
