Need help on shaving molded on details

I discovered a handy little technique for getting the spacing from the car body on the wire grabs on my caboose that may prove useful to others. I put a spare x-acto knife blade under the handrail between it and the car body before applyng the CA glue on the inside of the shell. I hold...

    Scratchbuilding Handrails

I am curious as to what the best techniques, Materials, etc. for scratchbuilding Scale Handrails on HO scale locomotives are. I want to replace the handrails on my Athearns with closer to scale wire handrails but I am not really sure how to do the vertical supports on the handrails. The...

Well I decided to start small. I brought my CSX caboose with me to work tonight as well as my x-acto and some extra blades. I have successfully shaved off all the molded on handrails with little extra to be touched up. I also picked up a few hundred Tichy brass wire grab irons at my...

Does Roco make atlas's DCC systems?

Actually it is HO. Don't really need any install info, it already has the stock Atlas Decoder in it. The nice thing is that it is the typical Atlas motor mounted circuit board type that digitrax makes a drop in replacement for if it ever goes bad. I am actually running the...

    1/8 scale Locomotive

Those wheelchair motors are designed for extremely high torgue but low speed. Ever seen the comercials where they tow a fukll sized ford econoline van with one of the power chairs? Those chairs have one motor per drive wheel and usually only have two drive wheels.

Does Roco make atlas's DCC systems?

I actually found what it was. Roco made the locomotive for Atlas, not the decoder as far as I could find on the Atlas site.

Problems with an old P2K Loco

Problems with an old P2K Loco

My mother has a beautifully superdetailed and weathered BL-2 loco that unfortunately will register a direct short even with nothing but the truscks and frame on the track (with the wheels of course). Is there any way to get this loco to run on my Digitrax system short of spending 3 times...

Call me stupid but I need some help here...

I haven't the foggiest idea what the differences in Pulman cars are. I bought my mother a 4 car set of pulman cars by MDC Roundhouse and I can't identify which one is which to save me now. I know the one with the funky yellow handrails on the back is the observation car, but there is...

    When simple things go bad....

Well the box definitely has a date with my dremel tool later. Right now I decided to go ahead and begin the painting of the car while I try and decipher the undercarriage details for it. The instructions for this thing are text only with some really fuzzy black and white images of the...
