    My layout thread

It depends on your era and on the size of the station. A team track is simply a track where LCL (Less than Cargo Loads) can be offloaded into the vehicles of the reciever. In the early days that would be teams of horses pulling freight wagons, then it would be small trucks. We have a team...

Can't decide, but leaning toward N scale

If you go N Scale, before you sub to MR, have a look at "N Scale Magazine" or "N Scale Railroading", MR seems to be a little shy on N Scale material.

Hello! An introduction and a question

My point Meirion was not to limit yourself to Walthers as you leave out about 1/2 of the suppliers out there. If you are interested in something, ask here or do a Google search, you turn up far more than Walthers offers and always at better pricing.

Can't decide, but leaning toward N scale

I think you just answered your own question there Burger. You state that a loop of HO is 38" wide. And in your track plan you have a table allotment of only 33.5". If you want the ability of continuous running, you need to go to N Scale.

Can't decide, but leaning toward N scale

I too would agree with Meirion. N Scale is, at least up here in Canada :D cheaper than HO. What makes it more expensive is that you need twice as much to make it look crowded. sign1 I would agree with Umtrr, to design the plan in the Atlas software using HO scale track and then simply...

Here we go! Gotta start somewhere.

Great looking layout, you are coming along nicely with it. I have a suggestion for the tunnels. If your tunnel access points are within view, had you thought of detailing the interiors? On our club HO layout, we have one long tunnel leading to a huge gorge. The tunnel is being detailed with...

Hello! An introduction and a question

Walthers does NOT have Athearn or MDC in their catalog either. Horizon Hobbies has those lines. For my era MDC seems to be the only ones making the rolling stock. Unless you count the junk that Bachmann passes off as "Old Time". As for magazines, there is N Scale Railroading and N Scale...

    My layout thread

Let's see, here goes... 1. Don't know, I am into steam. My minimum is 11", I have on GP38 I was given and it works on the 11" radius. 2. My layout is set in 1880-1900, so I have short rolling stock 36'-50', They work fine on the 11" radius. I do have 4 passenger cars that are 80' They will...

    1880s 4-4-0

The loco pictured is the Bachmann 4-4-0. The Model Power 4-4-0 has a front coupler, but it is a later vintage (1900-1905) http://www.modelpower.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1422

The way county officer does it is the way I do it as well. Don't know if my mix is that watered down, but it has more than 50% water.

    Web Site Advise Wanted!!!

David, looking good. Only thing... lose the sound effects. They don't ADD to your product and they are annoying, I loggrd in at midnight and my wife is sleeping in the next room. Had to jump for volume control. :curse: The layout of the page is fine, waiting patiently to see what you will be...

Minimum radius for Mikado locomotive ?

I agree, however, I do not like the looks of it going around the 9.75 curves. I have limited my layout to a minimum of 11" radius curves. Even though I am doing 1880-1900 and the rolling stock is at most 50'

    Scenery help

Soaking before? In the N Scale world, we simply spoon on the ballast, then take 50/50 water and white glue with several drops of cheap no name dish soap. Put the mixture in a plastic ketchup/mustard bottle, the ones with the small spout, then just squirt away, apply liberally down the center...

David, I am in Hunstville on Cogeco high speed, Cogeco are hosting the site for me. You can have anyone host your site. To get the Paypal link up, you need a Paypal account, I am not sure how much that is. You might want to ask Rich (spyder62) about Paypal. I redid Rich's site and am currently...
