    Benchwork constuction for foam??

ok, 1x4 for the general frame(4" is vertical), using same 1x4's lay one horizontial slat (1" vertical) every 12" flush with depending on your standard (build the frame a bit bigger than 4x8, you flush bottom to set foam in, frame exact 4x8, flush top to set foam on top).

Of interest to cell phone owning modelers and their kinfolk...

Folks, this is areal threat. Lot's of people now are using thier Cell Phone as their primary Number. that is, when they write a check at a store, are asked their number by a phone order or other such means, theya re entered into a database. these databases are then usually sold, without the...

    Track question

Hit the local Train hobby shop and get some track nails. E-Z Track has preset holes in it for just this purpose. or you can use caulk or liquid nails (a personal favorite of many modelers), but the nails should be sufficient if you plan to move the board about alot.

    Sorry for the dumb question...but...

you'd need a train control system for a computer in order to do that. there's a few on the market, but they'realmost as expensive (if not more) than the high end DCC systems, not to mention all the items needed to interface the DCC system to the computer.

    HO Beercar website

I Bought 6 of MDC's Old time Pabst Blue Ribbon cars when they were on the $3 list (being discontinued before they sold themselves off). of course they're all the same number, so i have some renumbering to do, but after that I plan to have a Train dedicated to just them. I'll be working on...

How difficult will it be to DCC equip this loco?

Russ's advice is right, put the decoder in the tender (which definatly has enough room for one and a speaker). Probably be a good idea to get a small quick disconnect to fit between the tender and loco, since you'll have 5 wires leading to the engine (2 for the light, 2 for the motor and 1 for...

    What if......

you know you could almost take that out of context and it'd be funny.;) Riding a set of boxcars down a hill with only a wheel brake to control it doesn't sound like fun to me. I can imagine many Brakemen dying from collisions resulting from not timing the braking perfectly. Hmm..no Canadian...

    What if......

Yea, saw those reporting marks, but CP is taken by that scoundral of a line Canadian Pacific :p , so I think CPRR will have to work. I wouldn't want to be a brakeman durning that time, was way to dangerous, falling off while moving, kocked off when entering tunnels, sudden stops while walking...

    Afternoon on the Narrow Gauge

Ok, I'll bite. Great photo's, but then i'm gathering they're doctored up model photo's, as i don't see any steam or smoke coming out of that stack or the pistons (you did say it was moving :p ). So what program/settings did you use with the digital camera to get such remarkable old looking pictures?

Images from Las Vegas Hobby Visions Trade Show

They might be only showing the N-Scale versions at the show, as well as the 2 peices on their website. definatly to small for a HO layout, the corner section is 32"x32", with about 24-28" available for the loop, meaning a 12-14" radius curve. that's definatly an N-Scale perspective, HO would...

    What if......

Well here i went and tore down the layout a few months ago, so in the intern months i was planning a new layout and wanted to run a new road on it. But I couldn't settle on just any roadname, I was looking for a southwesternly type. Southern Pacific was the fore runner, then there was Virgina...

Having trouble with downloading Track Drawing Software

Ok, try this. on the program shortcut on your desktop (create one iof you don't have one), right click on it, go to properties, then compatibility and check the box "run this program in compabitibily mode for:" and select win 98. if that doesn't fix it, something on your PC is wacky.

Does anyone know anything about this loco?

Hmm..looks pretty toyish. that being said, it has plastic wheels on the tender, so the motor is in the engine itself. this means you can put a decoder in the tender and run the leads from the motor to the decoder in the tender, then run the leads back to the motor. as it has an operating light...
