Will an ES44DC work on 18" radius?

Thanks everyone for the responses. It sounds like I should just stick with 4 axle engines for the most part. That's really ok with me, I am just getting anxious to get a new DCC loco with sound, and saw that loco on Ebay.

Will an ES44DC work on 18" radius?

I am thinking about pulling the trigger and getting a loco with DCC & Sound, and this ES44DC caught my eye. First, will this loco run on a layout with 18" radius turns. And if it runs ok, would it still look a bit silly? I really don't know all that much about engines, so any help would be...

    I need a construction engineer

Don, good points on the using liquid nails to adher the sheetrock to the studs. However, I really don't know what type of glue/adhesive could be used to adher the studs to the concrete wall. I would presume that the studs are securely anchored into the concrete wall, and at least perform some...

    I need a construction engineer

When you say that you probed with a nail about three inches to the left and missed the board, I assume that you mean that when you pulled the one nail in the sheetrock out, and probed, you hit a piece of wood. Then when you went 3 inches to the left, you went through the drywall, hit "air", and...

Did you get the flu, too?

Sorry to hear about your baby csx. After having 3 kids, I've "been there, done that" with the kids having the flu. It's a momentus occasion when your child gets old enough to learn to puke in a bucket or in the toilet. Up til that point, my wife and I pretty much split duties - I cleaned the...

    A basement layout

Nice looking layout. I particularly like the bridgework, and the last pic with the industrial siding. :thumb:

Did you get the flu, too?

Given the wild weather we have been having in the Chicago area, I actually would have thought it to be a worse cold/flu season than it has been. Don't get me wrong, there have been a lot of people that I know that have come down with a bad cold, flu or both. But I can recall recent winters...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

The rain/sleet/snow mix that we have been getting in Chicago since last night has finally turned into all snow. It's snowing very heavily right now where I work (near O'Hare airport). I was perplexed at how we were still supposed to get a foot of snow in the northern areas of the city, but...

    Building my first structures

Kokoracer, you need to post some pics of your first! I just got my 2 Walthers kits delivered to the front door on Friday, but had 2 birthday parties over the weekend (1 for my 2 year old, and one at a friends), so I haven't even had a chance to open up the boxes yet.

    Engineer Kyle's Entry/Winter '07 Contest

That's a great looking church Kyle! You blended the elements of the kit with scratch work very nicely.

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

CNW1955, I hear you on the snow front. Us Chicagoans have had a pretty wacky winter so far. While we haven't had a ton snow in terms of inches dropped, I really can't remember a recent winter where we have had SO MANY snowfall events at this point in the winter. It seems like I am shovelling...

    Building my first structures

Ed, thanks for the suggestions. I am sure that I will get the structures in the mail, be all excited, open the box, and then have a "now what?" moment! I will be referring back to the Gauge to re-read a couple of "how to's" when needed. Oh, and I will definately post some pics.

    Building my first structures

I just realized this morning that I had posted a grand total of 99 times on this forum, with this post here being #100. While it's nice to get into triple digits, I realized that while I have learned A TON about model railroading in the past year or so from the fine folks that make The Gauge...
