    k.u.k. Marine Wien

I've seen some small 6 and 12 volt stepper motors down at the local electronics surplus store. They're kind of like the motors that slowly spin them aweful disco balls but on a smaller scale. Geared down pager motors and those new bright white LED's would work well too. The whole thing...

A new model to win !!!!!!!!

it gave a false sense of speed by painting a wave on the bow of a ship. A ship moving slowly would appear to be moving faster thus throwing off anyone trying to target a torpedo or give an accurate report Ron

'The Cleo Thread' for your viewing pleasure

Hi guys :) I've managed to grab the entire Cleo thread from the old site and pack it up for your viewing pleasure. It's being stored on the cardmodels.org server so get it while it lasts! After unpacking the file to your favorite folder ('directory' for us older geeks), click on the html file...

virtual reconstruction of the Viribus Unitis

Renaud, Thanks for that link :) It has to be the most detailed 3d representation of a ship I've ever seen. The man is definitely talented. Links like this are wonederful in that they carry the reader on and on to new sources that last for hours. I've learned alot! Ron That guy should...

    A new beginning

Jim, I've always wanted to attempt building a ship model ever since seeing the master model makers at work in a museum here in Toronto. Financial woes or other issues have always prevented me from doing it. Cardmodels never burn that big a hole in the pocket :) Larry's build and then seeing...

    A new beginning

The HMS Victory is almost ready to leave the boneyard and start becoming a ship. My fingers are caloused and numb but every minute was worth it :) There are about 10 more formers remaining for the main hull and then we can see things come together. At 1:96, this ship is HUGE! The formers in the...

    A new beginning

You guys are too kind :) Thanks for the warm welcome! I almost feel like I've entered into some kind of brotherhood. The blade advice thankfully worked as my fingers are feeling it today. I'm using the #11's now strictly for the tighter curves and the huge Olfa snapoff for all of my straight...

    A new beginning

Larry, I've taken the plunge. You are without a doubt, the prime instigator of this madness. I won't post the name of this particular model because it is WAY over my head. Thank goodness for scanners as I'm prone to messing up all of the time :) If all goes well, I'll continue to post as we go...

Bit off more than I can chew

Hi guys As I proudly proclaimed awhile back, I was the new owner of the Flymodel Kruzensztern. After looking it over a zillion times, I think I really bit off more than I'm capable of chewing  I want to build a sailing ship in a desparate way but this was not the way to go. Something a...
