What era draws your attention the most?

I agree NKP174 the info you have is very important. In my case I was born in 74, Never saw the era I model. I have to rely on pics and literature from that time. It was what was going on in the 40's and 50's as well as the look of the equipment that lures me in. Still a great modeler can make...

    Shelf layout lighting

Now there are dimmable fluorescent ballasts that you could use. They do require a magnetic dimmer to work. The romex with the lamp sockets scares me ,,, how did you continue the ground wire? A 4 inch round box with a porcelain lamp holder would meat code and be a lot safer. When working...

Do you belong to the NMRA ?

I was a member ,off and on for a few years. It can be an expensive club to belong to when you factor in the conventions and dues. Holding an NMRA card or not really did not change the amount of enjoyment of the hobby I had. So I let my membership run out.

    New to Railroading

I don't mean to nit pick :cool:but the steamer is probably a 4-8-2 or a 2-8-4 not an 8-4-2 that would be one huge pilot truck. So you either have a mountain or a Berkshire. So I guess we'll now call a 8-4-2 an eastsider:p, there you now have a steam engine named after you:rolleyes:.
