I believe the red x has to do with the server that does not allow you to "deep link" a picture.

    MiniTrix For A Newbie

If you want to keep your options open, check out Minitrix steam engines they did for the SNCF and BNCF with black wheels. Some could be later reused to Americanize the engines.

    Scale speed

I got the Trainspeed unit as well to match the speeds of different engines and manufacturers. My next step is to hook up my computer interface to a small circle to get the DCC speed table going. It is maybe more expensive than a stop watch but for DCC it really cuts down the time to perfectly...

    Micro Trains Couplers and Trucks

If you want the couplers on the truck, switch to Micro-train truck with pre-installed couplers. It is not much more expensive and every coupler is the same height. You could body-mount the coupler and just cut off the coupler housing on the original trucks but than you have to get all the...

    Control Panel Layout

I used a paint program to do my layout, printed it out on full sheet label paper, used a piece of PVC sheet as a support and a cover it with a thin piece of Plexiglas. Since I have no toggle switches for the turnouts only for turning of the power to the lines, it works out great and looks very...

    Kato AC4400's

My herald came from the Microscale sheet 60-745 Southern Pacific Gunderson Double Stack. I had the decal sheet for over two years just for that purpose. I don't know how long Southern Pacific tolarated that herald some employee put on right around the time UP bought SP, but on my layout it will...

how long does it usually take?

Since I use an airbrush gun, my paint is usually dry within an hour (low California humidity). If I have to paint two colors, I use a hair dryer to speed up the process. I agree with dash10 that you should use a left over plastic piece to check your paint for all kind of possible disasters. I...

    Kato AC4400's

Finally I finished my SP AC4400. Now it is time for Kato to announce the second run of AC4400 in SP colors. Roland www.engineshop.org

    paint question.....

I spray 2, 3 layers of gloss, which helps avoiding the "silvering" of the decals. Matt paint is to rough and can trap air underneath the decal which always will show. I had great succes with this method. Roland www.engineshop.org

    Kato AC4400's

I don't know if it just me and my clumsy fingers but I could not install a Microtrains coupler #2004 into my AC4400. Did anybody convert the model to Microtrains coupler already and which one did you use. Thanks Roland www.engineshop.org

I am wondering what will happened to the Athearn SD70M since Kato announced their own SD70M? I ordered two Athearn SP SD70Ms and I am still debating with myself if I should cancel the order and wait and see, which paint scheme Kato will bring out. Roland www.engineshop.org

Is this the most far-out train you have ever seen ???

Maybe the locomotives look ugly for US eyes but I believe the inside which is the most important part for travellers should please everybody. Check out this website of the ICE highspeed train. http://www.railfaneurope.net/pix/de/electric/emu/ICE/ICE-T/415/interior/pix.html
