How many RailAmerica lines can we post pics of?

Boredom makes us do strange things... Northbound Indiana & Ohio train 401 passes the farmer's co-op north of Hamler, Ohio on the afternoon of September 15, 2007. Leading are a leased Susquehanna SD70M and an IORY SD40-2 in the official paint scheme (which dates back to their RailTex...

Why don't you participate in our photo contests?

I got a BIG high five for Spitfire! If it's just another photo to post for everybody why even bother looking at the entries?

Why don't you participate in our photo contests?

Why does there need to be two separate divisions? By giving the rookies their own separate category the message is that they can't be as good. If nothing else it doesn't give them the motivation to improve their photography in the future. I say let everybody compete together in one contest and...

    Magazine choice

n00b-2, you can get the reprinted edition of the articles, Building an HO Model Railroad with Personality, for a few bucks if you look around. Much more convenient than keeping a dozen moldy magazines around.

Why don't you participate in our photo contests?

I don't understand the obsession of some here with high-priced photography equipment. If that's another swing at me, Larry, then you are sorely misinformed. Yes, there is a need for decent equipment to enter any contest. There is also a need for an understanding of photography as well, though...

How many RailAmerica lines can we post pics of?

Given that only a small portion of RailAmerica lines have locomotives in their own paint scheme or in the corporate paint scheme I bet members here will have a difficult time even knowing that a line is nearby.

    LHS attitude

Toledo sucks since Steve's and J&M both closed. Rider's doesn't care about model railroaders, period. Hobbytown doesn't stock anything that I'd care to buy, and doesn't seem keen on rotating their stock any time soon. They're all very friendly, they just don't like to have stock on the shelves...

    Desktop image

Since the desktop image on my Mac mini is not my own, and it wouldn't be appropriate to post another's to the forums, you'll have to settle for just my Macbook desktop: Edit: Nevermind, it censored out a "naughty" word in my URL. ~BS

Why don't you participate in our photo contests?

Okay, now that Larry drug me into this kicking and screaming I might as well add my buck-seventy-six worth. The contests never seem to have the right choice of subjects. If it's a contest, let's see how creative the contestants can be. How about giving a little more abstract challenge...

Seen in Houston - SOO Lines Loco

That's a former Soo line unit that was returned to lessor CEFX and put in their short term lease fleet. Note the giant line through the road name and the new reporting marks on the cab.

    Keep em or sell em?

If they're more than fifteen years old they probably won't have much value on the used market if that helps your decision any. N scale models have come a long way in the last decade-and-some.

    Mac Users?

I guess I forgot to tell what else I have! In addition to the new Macbook (that I'm using right now), I also have an original G4 Mac mini that's due for some upgrades, a dead iBook Dual USB from 2001 (that you'll probably hear more about in a private message), and a PowerMac 9500 tower that's...

    Mac Users?

I guess I'm done model railroading for a while. My six-year-old iBook died a few weeks ago so last night I made the trek to the Apple Store in Ann Arbor last night for a new base model Macbook and a second generation iPod nano on closeout. I spent most of last night getting everything set up to...
