    Interesting reading

Way too much to invest for the marginal benefits it would provide. Besides, all the foamers would just complain about the damn poles in the shots now!

    CSX Action In Marion(Oh)

NS is the busiest line in town with 40+ moves in 24 hours. The baggage room still houses the club's layout and a meeting room and the passenger waiting room is filled with various artifacts.

    CSX Action In Marion(Oh)

I might be able to arrange to be there still on Sunday of next. My Empire Builder slide show should be in October or maybe November.

I got rejected from Model Railroader

Using a telephoto lens will reduce your depth-of-field at a given aperture, not increase it relative to a wider lens.

question about "N" gauge in general

Smaller scales only tend to cost more because people are temped to cram more into the same space. Building a more complex layout in a smaller scale will ultimately lead to more expenses because it takes more "stuff" to fill that space. That's why I've always advocated much simpler layouts than...

    Altoona Bound

Blow off Horseshoe and go down to Cumberland, Maryland. Much better photography and varied viewing locations. Horseshoe gets repetitive very fast but there's always something new to see down on Sand Patch and Magnolia.

    N Scale Dummy Engines

The problem with using old, dead engines is that most look like crap, and the whole point of adding dummy engines is for aesthetics. Such a paradox.

What topic would you like to know more about?

Building an HO Model Railroad with Personality by John Olson has a list of books about Arizona copper mining in its bibliography. I don't have a copy anymore but I'm sure somebody out in Gauge... I mean, "Zealotland" ought to be able to provide some titles to review.

What topic would you like to know more about?

I'm trying to track down the various USRA reports from the 1970s when Conrail was being formulated but I'm not having much luck.

    cn/chessie lashup?

CN leased units to L&N quite a bit in the '70s, too.

    Double Double And Oddities To!

Nice catch on the BNSF Thundercab / NS SD60 combo. And that is one ugly Wheeling unit, too! ~BS

    cn/chessie lashup?

Certainly is possible and probably did happen on occasion, but it wasn't common. It would've been more likely in more recent times, for sure, as Chessie power was starting to disappear. The last Chessie painted locomotives were purged from the CSX roster a couple years ago. ~BS

When referring to a decreased workforce due to an economic downturn, yes. A lot of these guys got canned for rules infractions elsewhere, however. ~BS
