Which one do you like better, the MTH or the Spectrum? I can't believe BLI makes one too, thats 3 different companies making a K4 at the same time and no one can produce a C&O Hudson? :cry: Thats discrimination. lol

Its true, Lima's were always considered the Cadillacs of steam engines.

I wish someone made more Chesapeake and Ohio steamers, like a 4-4-2, and 4-6-2. The only commercially available passenger power for C&O is the Spectrum 4-8-2.

Those of you who model in the steam era. Did you consciously build a roster to have a diverse variety of locomotives, to represent a cross section of the railroad you model, or just buy ones that looked cool and were available at the time? :mrgreen: I ask because, as you know, its difficult...

Haha, most likely a present to myself. I doubt many near me would have the slightest idea of what I was talking about. Tis the railroaders curse, and blessing in some ways. We have a language all our own.

I always thought those FM's were some of the coolest looking diesels ever made. Nice models!

GN.2-6-8-0 --Awesome pic of that C&O engine on the bridge, but its definitely a Texas type 2-10-4, not a Berkshire. C&O called their 2-8-4s Kanawhas. :mrgreen: (just an observation)

After three and a half years of faithful service my computer kicked the bucket two weeks ago, so I haven't been around lately. I guess three and a half was a pretty good run for a laptop that was on for several hours every day. Honestly, thinkpads are great. I should have a new one soon. :)...

Buy Proto engines, they are by far the most detailed and powerful for the price.

Let us know how you like the Prodigy Squared system down the line. I want to buy one buy I'd like to hear more stories and opinions about it before then. :)

The Arizona and California has a cool paint scheme.

I have curves between 15" and 20" in radius on my layout (space limitations) but I've been running 85' boxcars and 6 axle engines for years. Rarely do I have a derailment. However, I have to admit my longer rolling stock looks pretty silly on the 15" areas. :oops: :mrgreen:

Yeah, also too many things to mention. Fortunately a good swap meet is a nice way to sell off aborted experiments in modeling. I'd take pics of the unfinished projects I have laying around, but my digital camera broke. :(

I would venture to guess the 6-4-4-6 had bad traction because so much of its mass was centered over its giant pilot and trailing trucks, and not enough on its drivers.

Problem was by the time of Duplexes no one was interested in record steam engine speeds anymore.

If I wasn't a model railroader, I would think those last two were real. Honestly.
