    Slow Progress

Well I've made some miner progress on the layout . Can't work on it as much as I would like and can't get to the hobbie store often enough either. It is comming along though and looking better. Need to get some specific houses and buildings to fill in those undone spaces, and have lots and lots...

    HO Roads

Shirt box cardboard can work very well . It gives a nice faded and even stained road look. With a little weathering and razor work for cracks and even potholes it can llok very realistic. Its very easy to cut out and apply too.

    baseboard suggestions

I would think The pink ( or blue) foam board would work great. I didn't think of it when I started and by the time I saw pics of people using it , it was to late. Home Depot , Lowes , 84 Lumber all carry the stuff and it comea in thicknesses from 1/2" to 2". It is very easy to work with . Cut ...

    A Question for Serious Modlers

The Atlas deisels are nice runners but I do have some trouble with the dirty track and wheels. I have to clean the track and wheels quite often. I also have an Inter Mountian F& and I love it. Very smooth and quiet and seems to run without any problems on dirty track or wheels.

how to slow down an electric pulley ?

Is there anyway to change the pulley size itself to something bigger. Or modify it ? A bigger pulley or wheel would make the overall operating speed slower. The bigger the wheel or pulley the slower it will go. No matter what the voltage and speed of the motor. Just an idea though.

What can i use to mobel rebar

They all sound like great ideas but in average residential streets I don't think rebar is used. Highways / interstates yes , but residential streets , housing plans I don't ever remember ever seeing rebar used. Just gravel base and asphault on top. Sidewalks at best would get wire mesh. The big...

    Conrail fans do not look.

I still see quite a few still in full conrail colors around here. Mostly on the NS lines. They're a bit slower on the repainting I guess. Never did see any CSX partial paint over like that. Haven't even seen too many CSX Conrail mixes around here. Nice paint job though. I do however miss the...

    Lurching box cars

I had a couple a cars that did that too. All thogh the above mentioned idea makes a lot of sense and is likelly the problem , mine were cured when I got a diffent better quality engine that ran a lot smoother.

    Engine shells

Athearn is also very easy to switch shells . You may be able to buy a dummy unit in the line you want and make the switch. I've done that before.

    Novelty boxcars

Like you I don't really understand the bid deal with the collectable cars . It must be a collecter thing and I doubt that these cars are really used much. I do know that they are very popular and my local hobbie store sells out of them rathher quickly.
