    Decal Woes

Thanks for the help, guys. I put a lot of time into making my freelanced road "real", and there was quite a bit of work involved in setting up these decals to fit correctly on an N scale engine. I hate to see all of that go to waste. I'll definitely look into trying some different decal paper...

    Decal Woes

Still no luck. I bought some matte finish sealer, and the ink still beads up and smears when touched. I even tried applying some BEFORE printing, hoping that the ink would "stick" better, then applied another coat on top of it. It still beads up and smears. My printer isn't the latest and...

    Web Site Advise Wanted!!!

    1) Yes, there is a lot more space on the right hand side. My screen resolution is 1024x768. 2) I can see the font just fine. I'm not sure if you're using .CSS to support the forced font, but that's always an option if you aren't. 3) Personally, I don't like audio embedded websites. If...

    Decal Woes

I bought some decal paper (Walther's Decal Line, Matte Finish) and I can't print my own decals. Apparently decal paper and ink jet printers don't mix. So what can I do? Will it work with a laser printer?

    E&S Flagship has arrived!

The Erie & Southern kicks off the new year with the arrival of its flagship engine, a 2-6-6-2 Mallet! Pictures don't do this engine justice, so I won't post any. The detailing is amazing! I just hope it runs as good as it looks. :thumb:

    Christmas Day Check-IN

While I didn't get the actual engine, I got $100 that was to go towards "train stuff". Looks like I'll be getting that 2-6-6-2 this week after all!

    Negative feedback for nothing

Quoted for importance... Your "Average Joe" isn't going to know much about model trains, and I avoid looking at their auctions like the plague.

    Exciting Times In Bucyrus!

I guess the good news (if you can call it that) is that this appeared to happen near a field, and avoided any serious injury to the public or railroad employees. Great pics, Larry! :thumb:

    Real ballast, amazing variety

I'm inclined to agree with Brian. I've looked at several ballast samples during my railfanning excursions, and most ballast I've seen is pretty uniform in size. That may very well be coke.

    Industry Focused Operations

Hmm... I'm almost at a loss for words. The operations forum is pretty inactive when compared to other sections of this site. But it seems like whenever I bring up a question, things can get active in a hurry, and sometimes even a little heated. It wasn't my intention to "poke a hornet's nest"...

    Industry Focused Operations

I've been thinking on this all day...and I just don't get it. From what I've read here, and elsewhere, on the "loads in/empties out" process, you're basically pretending to move freight. What I read from another source said that to pull this off correctly, I would need two sets of matching...

    Industry Focused Operations

Okay, maybe I need to be more specific... I understand how things work (for the most part) with the prototype. But what am I supposed to do with the model? How do operations work when you're picking up Product A, in this case coal, and not have anywhere to take it?

    Industry Focused Operations

Here are a few coal related industries I'm considering for my 9x6x3 layout: Tipples - 1 large (Walther's New River Mining Co.) - Flood loader (Walther's kit) ======================= hmmm..Not sure if there was flood loaders in the 50s. ======================= My sources say that by the 50's...
