    DDG173 Kongo

I should have mentioned this in the previous post. I followed atamjeet's links and wound up at the site that offered the Kongo- for free no less. There was a picture of a 1/350 Akagi and mention of an I-400 class sub in the works. There is also an Osahio (spelling ?) Japanese sub for free...

I have that model and forwarded it to cgutzmer for upload in the downloads section. Was it you who sent the sub file to me? Is that your model in the photo?

    DDG173 Kongo

Both of these ships are absolute jewels. Atamjeet, I went to the website listed in your post. Do you have an idea of when Akagi and I-400 will be ready? I am especially interested in WWII Japanese subs.

    T-100 Modelik 01/04

I hate repetitive work. Here's a suggestion, build one track; make several RTV molds and cast the tracks in Celluclay (paper maiche). It's still paper! You can still have a life, too. I am already experimenting with turning Celluclay prop spinners and I am happy to say the experiment is...

...Just an idea of what's coming from me next...

You don't absolutely need a better camera. Remember that point and shoots have a minimal focal distance, usually around 1-1.3m. If you stay in that range, you can use the simple MS photo processing software to resize and crop the image. Your software package likely has some sort of basic image...

Why do you build card models

I build card models, as opposed to other types of models because of: 1. The unique range of subjects available 2. The large size of some models ( I love to hang big models from the ceiling or display them in the library) 3. The incredibly low cost for some of these models (though I recently...

'First impressions' and full 'Kit Reviews' template

Why didn't I think of that? Oh, I know why; I am a linear thinker and since it wasn't in the instructions, I didn't do it. LOL For those of us who are braincase limited, you should probably modify your instruction set to mention the obvious! And, I'm a teacher; can you believe it...

    Krzychu's USS Skipjack ( SSN 585 )

How well did the waterline line up? It also looks like you have used glossy paper or put a gloss varnish coating on it. Beautiful build!

    Akari

I've never seen one of these anime girls built-up. Are there any problems peculiar to this type of model?

Thank you for the kind comment, bclemens. I am glad someone is getting ideas from my build. As of today, I have everything base painted. I really did not want to paint the model, the reason I got into paper modeling in the first place, but the imprinted rivet detail really bummed me out...

Torpedo and Spar No one knows what design was used for the torpedo but there are a number of educated guesses and representations based on surviving records related to designs of that era. In addition there was only one iron spar recovered, the one used to carry and impale the torpedo...

Upcoming cardmodel of the SATURN V / Apollo 11 launching equipment

Laser or No Laser Obviously, offer the kit in two forms. But, for those of us who want to have a little life left in us, the laser cut option is fantastic!

Hex Head Bolt Syringe For those of you who might want one, I made a quick plan in Paint showing the pertinent details. As for the size of individual components, that's up to you.

Hex Head Nuts & Bolts The Renova kit supplies some hex bolts but gluing them to card then cutting them out individually seemed a time consuming chore. So, I made my own. In the following photo you can see the brass syringe I made from telescoping hexagonal tubing available in five consecutive...

Prop Shroud and Rudder Not much activity on this post, so here is the latest work to peak your interest. I have mounted all of the parts previously assembled to make up the prop shroud and rudder. You will notice the brass elements; why roll paper when you can use other materials?

    LA class attack sub??

Check Paper Models International. I seem to recall some waterline sub models along the lines you requested. Good luck!

Ruhr Valley Raid 65 Years On

Well, here is one Yank who got to fly with 617 Sq in an elint support role. Great chaps and they brought their squadron store with them. I still have the art print and first day issue I purchased from them on the wall over 20 years later. At that time, and now I suppose, they were flying the...

    Not coming soon.....

So sick!!! What a great subject. I agree with Redhorse, 1/8 or a tad larger at 1/6th. The larger scale would allow you to get more definition in the facial structures which makes or breaks a figure model to me. Where does this come from?
