    PSF: Phase Pistol

The easiest way I can think of to weight the guns is to adhere sheet lead to appropriate parts of the guns. I have sheet lead, but getting it to you might cost around $5. The sheet lead I have is about 20mils thick and quite malleable. I have rolled some to ~.004 thickness. I imagine it...

How do you use a #79 Drill Bit?

A couple of comments: DoctorWayne is correct; purchasing a drill press to drill #79 holes is a bit of overkill, sort of like hunting quail with a 105 howitzer! Secondly, I am not sure about Rigid's batteries. But, I share your sentiments about Craftsman power tools!

How do you use a #79 Drill Bit?

As a former precision machining instructor, I would be very careful about what I buy in the way of a drill press. If you are into railroading and wish to scratchbuild, you may want to consider a tabletop mill, more expensive than a drill press, but infinitely more accurate. In your research...

How do you use a #79 Drill Bit?

EZDays is correct; I have several zero clearance chucks. The downside is that the #79 is so small in diameter that the least variation from horizontal will cause the bit to snap. In addition, the weight and torque of the rotary tool makes it difficult to to control the bit resulting, again, in...

How do you use a #79 Drill Bit?

Chuck a toothpick in the drill. While the drill is turning, use a #11 hobby blade to cut the pointy end off and, at the same time, make a small concave depression in the middle of the toothpick. Again, while the drill is turning, hold your #79 in your finger and gently guide it into the...

Anyone Seen a Paper Model of an Ant?

There are two threads with the same title. In the other thread I posted that I have a hornet... for your purposes, an ant with wings. Leave off the wings, recolor (paint it) the model and you have an ant!

Anyone Seen a Paper Model of an Ant?

Hey! Wait a minute. A hornet is in the same family, different coloring and it flies. There is a model of a hornet that I acquired (free) from a Japanese site. I have forgotten the site, but I have the hornet model. You'll need to recolor it and possibly add a few details, but hey; it's free...

    CSS Hunley by Renova

Thank you for the compliments! It's like being at a club where everyone gets to oooh and aaah over each others' creations. In case you wish to know, weathering was simple: 1. Base coat flat black (el cheapo flat black from Lowe's....good stuff, too) 2. Restore rivet detail with Alclad...

    Steamships Kronprinz & SCHAARHÖRN

I believe if you look closely at the models, especially cabins, windows, structural supports, davits, and the like you will see these are clearly made from paper. However, it is also clear he has mixed other materials into the model, which is fine by me.

    Conwing L-16 "The Seaduck"

You are looking for the Fairchild C-82 Packet and its successor, the Flying Boxcar. Also, you want to study Sikorsky flying boats up to and including the S-42 series. Your model is essentially a hybrid of those two designs.

    CSS Hunley by Renova

Hunley Completed Though I have not yet mounted it for the beauty shots, here are some views of the completed Hunley. Thanks to those with suggestions, which I used. You may note that the rivet detail stands out; it is much more subtle in person. The lights pop the detail out. I moved...

A special thank you for the administrators

I second that. I am blissfully unaware about spammers on this forum but would like to recognize the threat when I see it. Hey! You guys are like the Men in Black, protecting us humans from things we don't need to know about.

Distractible Good use of the English language! Don't apologize for doing what you want. I have found in life that for every person with time and skill, there is another quite willing to direct him/her on how best to use it. And, like others, the work you are willing to share is of such...
