    Successful Use of Electromagnets?

I helped a friend of mine install 3 of them on his layout. They are installed as per the directions and are powered by the ACC. terminals of his MRC power pack. They work flawlessly. The dual coil , under the tie set up sounds interesting though. Let me know how that works out when...

I just cant figure it out

The worm is the plastic spiral looking thing inside the gearbox on the end of the motor shaft. Here's a photo of a brass Athearn worm. I wish I could have gotten Thomas and friends in HO 15 years ago when my son was interested in them.

I just cant figure it out

After looking at the photos again and remembering the one I had, there should have been a weight sitting on the frame behind the motor. These are a slightly upgraded version of the old AHM C-liner drive. In fact the idler gears, axles and wheels will interchange. The worm from an early (single...

    MofW Car drive mechanism failed

An Athearn #41034 4 prong coupling from an F7 or SW will work as a replacement for the MDC coupling. It may be a little easier to find.

    I've got this steamer.....

Glen, The trucks may be mounted that way so the tender is electrically neutral. I have a few locos that I should do that to to prevent arcing between the tender and loco on sharp radius turns. I used JB weld to repair a truck on one of my Aristo craft tenders. I am not sure it will work on...

    A Varney 4-6-0

This is a Varney Casey Jones I am rebuilding. I've added a can motor, regeared it and added extra electrical pickups. That was going to be the extent of the modifications (besides painting it) until I saw a photo of South Simcoe's #1057. I noticed it was similar to the Varney model and had a...

    I've got this steamer.....

After seeing this page that discribes the Arbour Models 4-6-0s I am not sure it is an Arbour Models http://railroad.union.rpi.edu/rolling-stock/Steam/Steam-models-Arbor.php It doesn't look like the Aristo craft either...

    I've got this steamer.....

What a beauty. You got me on this one. Arbour Models is a possibility. Aristo craft Maybe? I found an add for a United Scale Models V&T 4-6-0 that looks like it, but I thought the United Models were brass. could be wrong. Could you post a photo of the bottom of the tender (and truck)?

    John English 2-8-2 Question

Was the Lionel slope back tender from the JE dies? I've been drooling over the JE Mike tender on Dan's site. I just need to save a few bucks and put an order together.

    Question of the year, 2007

My plans for 2007 are to build a larger trainroom to house a larger workshop and all the layouts I am working on and complete most of the loco and rolling stock projects I have going. Realisticly, I will be lucky if I get half of my current projects done.

    Rebirth of a Tyco loco

I have a few of those drives. A couple F-9s and a GP-40. They are great runners when tuned propperly. I put a larger can motor in one(with some modification to the chassis) and it out preforms the Bachmann plus locos I have. Gem used those same chassis in their brass F-9s.
