I haven't been able to find any Mellor products. Would like to find some of the valve gear conversion kits and cabs. Yes the Mantua cabs do seem short to me. The MDC cab is a good idea.

Thanks Glen. I use Floquil engine black. After the decals are installed I spray it with Testors dullcoat. Then a little weathering with a custom mix ( mostly thinner from cleaning the airbrush). I have a few jars that I custom mix from different colors as I glean the airbrush.

I finally found one and got it running. I had to fabricate a geared insulated axle for it and do some repairs on the shell. I still need to find some missing parts (air tanks, brake shoes and a light bulb bracket), but it is in running order.

I would also say the helix humper would be the easiest way to go. I have been doing it the hard way. (The cheaper route)

Sideframes from a Bachmann F7 will interchange with the U36-B. Finding a junker for parts would be your best bet if no one has a set laying around.

I have more unfinished projects than I care to list. I keep finding these deals I can't pass up so the list keeps getting longer.

With a little work those can be made into a great running locomotive. I've regeared, remotored and added better electrical pickups (plus adding some extra details) to 3 of their Pacifics and 2 of there Mikados

If you want a set of hand railings that were like the original Lionel plastic railings, the railings from a Bachmann GP30 will work as replacements since they are the same locomotive produced by Kader but sold under the Bachmann name.
