Stop putting 1:1 scale pennies on the rails. :D

    Dremel

What are these in inches? The smallest collet (the deal that goes inside the chuck) that Dremel has goes down to 1/32". I've actually used smaller diameter things by wrapping foil around them, but it's hard to get them straight in the Dremel. A straignt pin makes a pretty good drill bit for...

    Bachmann4-84 J class

Welcome to The Gauge, Ice Hawk! I don't know the answer to your question, but you might try posting it on the B-Man's web site: http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/board/list.php?f=1

    Queston?

They're so useful as general-pupose stirrers, daubers and smearers that I have a whole box of them (you can get them by the 100s, without the popcicle stains, at craft stores.) A little thick for N scale usage, but I do recall slicing thin strips off of one to make bridge planks or something...

    Chrome

Thanks, Glen - I think I noticed something about using it for masking on their web site. BTW, what's black chrome?

No, the logo would be something like this (G&W in Dwarvish, stands for Gondor & Western).

I've wondered if conductive paint could be used for that as well.

    Chrome

Anybody use this stuff? http://66.70.211.27/foil.htm It's some kind of thin, adhesive-backed foil used for modelling chrome on model cars. Wouldn't a VO-1000 look funky with a chrome grille? :D

    Thatched Roofs

Thanks a lot, 60103. That book must be about the same place (the Pendon Museum) that the web site is from that George posted. A great site, btw. Has anybody been there?

    Atlas Shay

They also have the same thing (the interactive photo) for their Mogul. Pretty neat!

No, the "forces" were defeated in the Third Age. The following Ages were peaceful, leading to such things as the development of railroads etc. Ain't history a wonderful thing when you can make it up yourself?

    Thatched Roofs

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of Middle Earth in the Fourth Age (or later) .:D

    Thatched Roofs

I don't have anything specific in mind (yet) - just thought it would be good for making a funky building of some sort. If the reeds are approx 1/4 inch diameter, that scales down to 0.0015625 of an inch in N scale (but what's a few thousandths?) Obviously I would need some sort of material...

Anybody got any good ideas on how to model these (in N scale)?

    The All Day & Night

Hey Tad - Looking at your plan, I noticed you have several wyes, some obvious and some not. DCC or not, I think these require special consideration wrt wiring. Also, the wye on the lower left of your last post - make sure the stub extends far enough to get whatever you're reversing past the...

    M-T Couplers on Passenger Cars

Jack - Have you checked the MT web site at http://www.micro-trains.com/conversions_.htm ?? They have a wealth of information about what couplers to use where.
