Help with MRC Reverse Loop Module

Does the lead pilot wheel of your Challenger pick up power from both rails? Have you tried any other steam? I had the same problem with MRC reversers and concluded, but did not prove, that they only work reliably when the first wheelset to cross the gap picks up power from both rails. All my...

Need tips on Turf and grass

Paint the foam an earth color. Put down your dirt, grass etc, in wet paint. Even dry paint is ok. Use a spray bottle with as fine a mist as you can, I get mine at the local Drug Fair. Spray rubbing alcohol, saturate the grass. At first, spray upwards a bit, let the alcohol fall like rain...

Here's one that's several years old, the loco belongs to Pete (Sumper) and the pic was taken when he visited. What a great train he had running that night!

    Atlas signals

Thanks Jeff. I'm not decided on what course I will now follow, but the info will apply regardless. The amber was very dim, would increasing voltage to say 4.5 volts and installing appropriate resistors on red and green leads brighten the amber?

    Atlas signals

I guess batteries have the capability of delivering quite a bit of current. Any idea why only the red one blew out? And why the green looked nice and bright (and was on for maybe 10 seconds with no problem) while the amber was dim? Any suggestion on value for a resistor? Thanks

    Atlas signals

I bought an Atlas signal recently, I have no intention of installing a comprehensive signalling system anytime soon, but am working on a scene in which I wanted a siganl more for scenery than any other reason. I thought I'd use the Atlas one as it would be possible to use it as part of an...

Weekly Foto Phun Week of Nov. 2 2007

Hi Everybody, this is an old shot I never posted, I was just playing around with the signs I had put in the windows. I wanted to complete the interior and retake photos. I wanted a mirror on the left wall, surrounded by shelves filled with liquor bottles. I thought it would be possible to...

    Help finding photos

Thanks Kurt. Kurts picture showed locos being fueled with just hoses and gravity. The tracks were at the same height and tho it looked like the fuel tank fills were a bit higher than the bottom of the tank car, I guess most of the fuel could be used. I wonder how they handled the oil in the...

To Use DCC" MRC" Reverse Loop Module Or Not

My experience with the MRC reversers was less than stellar. They tended to work fine with diesels. They almost never worked with my brass steam. I believe but can't say for sure that the wheelsets that cross the gaps need to be picking up power. The MRC units also would not change polarity...

Help me w/ DCC Specialties Auto Reverse Module

A test I recommended to someone else was to take a 3' piece of flex track, gap both rails twice in such a way as to make 3 1' sections. Wire the middle to the reverser units output, wire the two ends opposite each other. Run a loco back and forth, if you get a short there is something wrong...

Help me w/ DCC Specialties Auto Reverse Module

Jeff, I was surprised by your post regarding Tonys unit, so went to check it out and sure enough looks like he made a deal of sorts and his original reversers are no longer available. Bummer. I did get mine over a several year stretch, from maybe 6 years ago to 2 years ago. And they changed...
