help with cent. valley 150' truss bridge

Hi Tetters, yes you can build the bridge skewed. You still need to align the vertical girders directly across from each other, so are a bit limited in the angles you can get, at least without major rework. Here is a link to a thread where I built a bridge out of CV girders (did not use the...

help with cent. valley 150' truss bridge

I assembled mine in the same manner as Doc Wayne, but instead of using the monofiliment line, I used black thread supplied by my wife. Even with thread, it is possible to distort the truss by using to much tension, so be careful here. Merry Christmas everyone!

    Quick DCC question

Atlas sells locos with decoders installed. If this is the case with the one you mention, then yes you can run it on dc. The instructions will tell you how to change the position of a jumper plug.

    Dec 21st Weekly Photo Fun

Thanks Roger, yes it is a Central Valley kit. CNnutbar, nice 0-6-0! My Berk is at least 20 years old and while its detail is very nice, it has trouble negotiating even my 30" radius curves. Seems the drivers have very little side to side play, and no way to improve it. I'm sure the one you...

    locating a short circuit

Heh. I once had a difficult to locate short caused by the same thing. Apparently, a loco selected on one of my throttles still had a speed setting of 1. Digitrax throttles have two throttles each, and someone must have turned the wrong throttle just a bit. It took awhile for the loco to...

    Dec 21st Weekly Photo Fun

Hi Roger, When I download (upload?) pics from my camera, they get saved in a program called MGI Photosuite SE. When I post, I just click on manage attachments and double click on the file I want. I'm not very computer savvy!

Here's one of a railfan bouncing along a dirt road to watch the valve gear of an Erie berk. Can someone tell me what they do to post good quality large images here? This photo was very nice before reducing to fit here. Thanks

Hi everyone, nice pics. It seems there are a lot of C&O lovers here, so this one is for you! Gotta love those dual pumps on the smokebox front, and the narrow door between them. The folk who had to clean the flues must have loved them! The bell above and headlight below, those number boards...

    I need help.

"This is where it gets funny. I've managed to get two of the turnouts working...If I attach a third turnout and then try to test the DCC, it senses a short and doesn't "boot" up. Get this. Off the layout the third turnout works fine. No shorts, and if I clip it to my Power Cab it boots up no...

    Nov.30 Weekly Photo Fun

I was trying to remember when it was I took this shot, has to be close to 20 years ago already. Maybe closer to 15. Time flies! Taken just north of Butler, had to be early on in the Susie Q's stack train era, the welded rail hadn't been laid yet. I believe this was a type of directors special.

    Painting Rail....

Yeah, I think spraying at the layout is a bad idea. It really doesn't take long to brush paint on rails. Getting the paint on the tie plates just happens pretty much naturally when you move a small brush along the rail web, and will look like track in Doc Waynes second photo. Not too much...

Help with MRC Reverse Loop Module

Jeff, for what it's worth, my dcc is one of the early Digitrax chief systems, at 5 amp. It has an internal switch for the reaction time of its breaker, I had it set to its slowest and there was a difference, when at the faster setting even the diesels did not always activate the MDC reverser...
