    Bus Wiring for DCC

I think the separation issue of the DCC bus wires is over emphasized...After all, the tracks themselves are "buses", and they're only a little over 5/8" of an inch apart (HO)...even less on N. So, unless you have a humongous layout, a couple of inches will do....

Picture thread of your Logging, Mining, or unique industrial equipment.

Hi Bill... Thanks for the info...:thumb: I checked out both sites and there's just a world of stuff there. I bookmarked them so I can go back when I get to the point of outfitting a couple of shops...

Picture thread of your Logging, Mining, or unique industrial equipment.

Hey guys...Looks like you've been keeping busy.... Bill, the "hardware" end of things: piston, gears & such, where do they come from..?? Would they be appropriate (with some mods), to power a generator, as for a power house..?? Keep up the great work..!! :thumb:

    My 3x9 HO layout

Boy...!!! That's some train...!! Goes to show you don't need a mega-layout to have a lot of fun....Looks like you've achieved that. Congrats...keep up the good work...And let us in on it..!! :thumb:

    I'm Back!

Hi J.W. Good to hear from you....Sorry to hear about the break-in. That happened to me as well when I first moved in to my new house. I think I know who did it as well, but... Anyway....hope you're enjoying your new life (married....), and look forward to seeing you around here more...

    Spectrum K4 headlamp?

I had a similar problem with an F3 (FSM) I purchased....It was DCC ready as well, but the lights didn't work until I put a decoder in it....

    Beginner DCC System

Not being familiar with the other two systems, I can't say either way. The only thing I need do to run multiple trains is assign a throttle to an engine, and off I go....I can't see where the other systems could be simpler....Now this suits my operations quite well, as I operate alone, and can't...

    Beginner DCC System

Hi...I differ from Squidbait's assesment. I can run up to 6 trains on my Zephyr (if I had the space/inclination) to do so. I have run 3 at once, all independently controlled. I have also set up different control stations around the layout, so I can control whatever needs to be done up close...

    FSM kits

Hi...I use a "Beacon 527", which I believe I got at Michael's. It's the closest thing you'll find to the older, cellulose-based adhesives. It dries fast, and clear. It's all I use in my wood kits, both structures and rolling stock. Just don't use too much, a little will go a long way, and it...

    Going to start over...

Hi...Continuous running has its attraction for many of us, and I've built it into my layout. But I like switching and moving cargo between destinations, so I've got (so far), two "major" yards and about 15 destinations for my freight, with close to 50 turnouts doing the routing. I don't think...

    My new layout. Toptrain1

    Oh WoW.....Steam heaven..!!!

    Going to start over...

I think you're right....That happens to me (and probably most of us..) as well. If I've put something off for some time, it's probably because there's something wrong with it. Once you realize this, it's better to set it right, even if it means tearing down a section, or the whole layout. Maybe...

Logging East Tennessee on the C&S RR

That's really amazing..!! But if I was one of those guys....I'd be as far away from that cable as possible while the "donkey" was doing its thing...That last donkey is HUGE...!!!

Like a rat from a sinking ship

I have no problem with two very similar forums...and I check and post on both. Some folks left, some are still here, and new ones will come along.... Nothing earth-shaking about that....

Sound and DCC for Proto SW9 ideas?

Hi...Does the box say "DCC Ready"..?? If it does, all you need is a decoder (of whatever brand will control this loco), with an 8-pin plug. The plug will connect to a built-in plug in the loco. If it does not say "DCC Ready" you will have to "hardwire" the decoder. That gets to be slightly...

    The"P" in LC&P....

NKP...That sounds interesting...I'd never thought of that...Maybe place some fine graph paper behind the decal to aid in letter placement....Something worth looking into.. Thanks...:thumb:

    The"P" in LC&P....

NKP...I've tinkered around with the idea of making my own decals, but haven't gotten around to doing it. I've also looked into ordering them from someone who knows what they're doing, but that's about the size of it. The only "local" power & rolling stock was lettered using dry...
