    Prometheus "(SPOILER ALERT!!!)"

Oh, Prometheus definitely isn't "$h|t". I liked it fine. I haven't really disliked a film I saw at the movie theater since "The Spirit" several years ago (I dare anyone to say that one was good with a straight face). Zathros, "video store"? Which decade do live in?

    Cinedome or cinedrome?

Hah! It was a movie theater. That's about the most pathetic little theater I've ever seen-- and therefore a kinda cool model.

    Prometheus "(SPOILER ALERT!!!)"

Films in the Alien universe seem to make the usual underexplained Hollywood assumptions about faster than light travel and artificial gravity. Actually, the more I think about it, though, the premise of this film really took no more deep thought than that of the AVP movies. I'd even say those...

    Cinedome or cinedrome?

I just googled "cinedome" and "cinedrome" and they seems to be popular names for movie theaters, but I suspect that's not what you're looking for. Can you give us anything else to go on?

    Prometheus "(SPOILER ALERT!!!)"

I just saw and I won't drop any spoilers because I like to play "I know something you don't know". I will say that was about the stupidest bunch of space explorers I've ever seen. The hardware was nice, though. Some future models might include: The Prometheus, the excursion van, the dune...

    2001 ASO USSC Discovery One

I agree that it's looking great. It just occurred to me that the original filming model may have been done on a threaded rod with standard nuts like that. Hmm.

    2001 ASO USSC Discovery One

Well, the issue is doubtless because of your nut replacement idea, but anytime you do a customization like that there can be subtle differences. Do what you must, but I don't think Stanley Kubrick's ghost would notice the difference without having it pointed out.

    2001 ASO USSC Discovery One

Well, comparing yours to the movie stills and UHU's original, I see what you mean. I might be sort of an illusion, though. It will probably look different when it's off the table and you can see the three sections around the central rod. How's it look from the other side? At any rate, I sure...

    2001 A Space Odyssey

I make a point of scouting up such things and to date I've not run across one. However, I have a feeling that one is not far around the corner.

    My Delorian Build

His name is Cláudio Dias and he's one of the finest model designers on the web. This is one of his best works and I'm really looking forward to seeing how your time machine comes out.

    Paypal

PayPal is an interesting enigma in the financial industry. Though it functions much like a bank, it isn't regulated as one and, in my opinion, it very much needs some sort of oversight from outside. You are right about the customer service issues, Zath. Your experience with identity theft...

    Steampunk!

Did you manage to download anything from that page, Zath? I got a dead link there. I did manage to download the model from the following location, though. Also, I found a three part assembly tutorial at Instructibles. http://thepaperempire.blogspot.com/search/label/Airship%20plan%20plans...

    Prometheus "(SPOILER ALERT!!!)"

In the first trailer you could clearly see the "bone ship" from Alien crashing. That's close enough to a prequel for me.

    The Uhu02 appreciation thread

I've had no difficulty using Google Translate to translate UHU's pages and doing a save "web page complete" in Firefox.

    It is official

That's a cool looking sub, Allen. One of these days I'm going to find out about these local events early enough to make it over to one. I missed Stan Lee at Dallas ComicCon t his weekend, too.

    Bone Folder

Bone folders have been used by we book binders for centuries. I got into book binding/restoring back in the '70s when I could only find a couple of fully stocked bookbinding suppliers in the country. I used to have two, but I only find my 8 incher right now. I believe the idea is to make a good...

    Incredible Free Car Models

Thanks for pointing me that way, Zath. I've run across his Tintin rocket before, but I guess I didn't look around the site. He's got a number of cars, mostly concept cars, but a few very collectible vintage ones. I opened several and none had interiors, but his body design work and page layouts...

Just got back from the local hobby shop!

Cool. I didn't remember AMT doing a NASA rocket kit. I had the Revell Saturn V upper with the LEM inside, though.

    What about seams?

Concerning edge painting, I tried using colored markers and found they too easily bled color from the edge to the precolored surface. I picked up a little set of opaque watercolors- the kind in the the flat metal box with little pans. I mix the watercolors to a shade very close to what I need...
