    Copy-write piracy

Well, The DC, I think your offer is very generous and I'm rather impressed you managed to get an eBay senior manager on the phone. That company likes to keep it's distance from ordinary folks like me. Yours is a noble cause, for sure, though as Zathros points out, it may be quite an uphill...

1966 Chevy II Nova 1/25th scale

The mini box is a cute idea. I used to love AMT's 3-in-1 kits and built several, though I guess I haven't done it since Richard Nixon was president. You're inspiring me.

    The Uhu02 appreciation thread

UHU02 has gone beyond the fantastic again. This is one of my all time favorite movie vehicles and it a joy to see a paper design so splendidly conceived. I like the idea of lighting or cutaway, but just the pleasure of putting the interior there will probably be quite satisfying. I think at...

    Menchies give-a-way card model

That's cute. I like the surfboard carrier on top.

How do you "paint" the edges of your parts?

I've tried all the mentioned methods and prefer dry brushing paint with a small #1 Robert Simmons white synthetic watercolor brush. Instead of regular watercolors I've got a set of Talons Opaque Watercolors, which comes in dry pans on one of those long metal hinged lid sets.

Rolex watch w/ Rolex box under constuction

The basic design for this model is available for download at the designer's site. Craftsman obviously varied the model for his version. http://madebystore.co.uk/

Model of Merit: Rolex watch w/ Rolex box under constuction

I totally agree with this choice. Even after looking at the image full size I mistook the real for the model. That's a great job on an interesting model, for sure.

    "Alternative Materials" Category

I've seen some absolutely incredible wooden scratchbuilds posted at woodworking forums such as Lumberjocks. I know there are forums for wooden ship builders, but I think is might be fun to see a variety of wood projects, perhaps in this new category. Something I've been meaning to try sometime...

    "Alternative Materials" Category

Well, I might add that most polymer clays have require heating to 250-300 degrees F for at least 1/2 hour, though some people do seem to manage in a pinch with a heat gun. I use a larger dedicated toaster oven. The clay is labeled "non-toxic" but can produce harmful fumes if accidentally burned.

    AMT/Ertl Emperor Palpatine vinyl kit

You did a nice job and made some excellent progression pics. I've never thought much about why some kits are done in vinyl, but I would suspect they can cast fewer, more complete parts since vinyl can bend more in removal from the mold.

You must have been thinking of polymer clay, which happens to be one of my favorite materials other than paper. I'm going to check out the new section. I suppose the aluminum can guys will turn up there as well.

    GODZILLA!

Well, I suppose there is one. Both, as well as the new movie 'zilla, are operated by a guy in an uncomfortable suit. Zathros will be happy to know that none of them are Robert Young, though.

    GODZILLA!

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. While the casual viewer might think Godzilla always looked the same in the Japanese series, he was, in fact considerably different in almost every film. For some reason they could never seem to decide how his head should look, so he changed all the time. Check...

    Fabrizio Prudenziati - Zio Prudenzio - 1946-2014

This is a sad loss for all of us with love paper modeling. Fabrizio's extraordinary talent and design skill was equaled only by his generosity in sharing his terrific creations with so many fellow model enthusiasts via the Internet. He will be missed, but his creations will continue to be...

    The Uhu02 appreciation thread

I'll join in on the appreciation of this one. Actually, I'm more like awestruck. I built my first LEM model (Revell's) while keeping up with the Apollo program back in the '60s, but I don't recall ever seeing a model with a full LEM interior. UHU is regularly amazing.

Extra models at the Canon webpage

That's interesting. Perhaps because those are Asian trains, they haven't done English translations of the directions yet. Thanks.

    Edge Coloring

I picked up one of those big sets of markers when I first got in to card modeling, but I found it too easy to get bleeding color in the wrong places. The technique that works best for me is just a good old fashioned small watercolor brush with a bit of carefully mixed watercolor. Actually, I...

    Resource Hannibal Twin 8 Car

Great idea to host Ed's Hannibal here. I host it at my site, too. He made it available for posting anywhere and it's one of my favorite movie cars from one of my favorite steampunky movies.

    Full scale 1969 Mustang...in PAPER

Ah, I guess I misunderstood the article. That might explain why we haven't seen it completed. He must still be working on it and it will take years to do. That I can believe.

    Full scale 1969 Mustang...in PAPER

The engine and the seats look pretty impressive, though I think you'd ruin the seats if you sat on them. That video is 3 1/2 years old, so I did some searching to see how it came out. Oddly, I couldn't find a photo of the finished car. I did find some shots of the body sitting jack stands. On...
