    Using Real Water

I am a rookie to modeling compared to the rest of you, but my gut instinct is not to use real water for model railroad purposes. I can imagine far more problems associated with the use of real water than can be overcome no matter what skill level you have.

Does anyone play Microsoft Train Simulator?

I would go with this as well. I had TS installed on an old compter running on 98SE without any problems and then I converted to XP and reinstalled and have not had any problems. I have heard of some that had issues with the SP-2 release and once uninstalled TS and reinstalled all worked fine...

    Adding a yard and stuff

I have to agree with this. After numerous designs, everyone that saw may plans said I had way too much yard for what needed. Thankfully I caught on to what they were saying before it was too late.

    Railfan Roadtrip to Rhode Island

In a few weeks, my wife and I will be in the Providence/Warick, Rhode Island area for a dog show. While I may like dogs, I have no desire to spend an east coast road trip looking at hundreds of Irish Setters for an entire week and thus need a small diversion. That being said and having never...

    Kadee uncoupler.

Bill, the question I have is whether or not it is absolutely necessary to use magnetic couplers in your application. They do have their place in model railroading, but if you can switch out cars without the use of a magnetic coupler why bother with the cost?

    FRRS equipment move

Got the below information via another website of which the poster is a member of the FRRS museum (Western Pacific Railroad). For those not familiar, this translates into a movement of historical museum pieces between the FRRS museum in Portola, California the Western Railway Museum in Rio Vista...

    Scene ideas for modules

I have to go with the real stuff - cardboard recycler. Receives Hi-Cubes and tank cars and to scale works out great on a pair of modules overall 8 feet by 30 inches. I would attach a track plan of my module but have not figured out how to compress or convert it.

    Secret Cargo?

Good point, but I remember when the Alaska Railroad received another round of locomotive purchases and they went all the way across the country out in the open for all the world to see. Call me suspicious, but whatever that is under the tarps could be a "camo" job to disguise what is really...

    Secret Cargo?

The obvious question is why would you even cover a locomotive in the first place especially with what appears to be very loose covering.

I think Rube Goldberg designed this bridge

Tis an engineering design that leaves a lot to the imagination as to what the heck they were thinking. Perhaps the various design sections were an experiment to see what loads could be supported???

Absolutely YES, as I belong to the Sacramento Modular Railroaders and my home track plans call for a modular design.
