    We've got legs...

Give it a few years and I would bet that there will be an organization similiar to the NMRA that dictates standards for design of module legs. After reading this thread I am amazed at the variety of techniques and styles there are. They all obviously work for the user and I guess that is the...

    Confessions of an Engine Illitererate

Trainworm, this has to be the best summation of engine types I have ever read. Thanks for taking the time to explain it to me (us) JD

    Walthers Strikes Back!!

Lets hope not. We already have some great manufacturers in Atlas, Kato, Athearn but to add Wal(thers)mart would be a few steps backwards<g>. JD

    Marlpost Junction

I too like the original. If the switching is only an issue on the curved siding and why you went with option number two then may I suggest this. The curved siding will only be used a few times but the visual appearance of the overall layout will be forever. If you can get past the problem...

    Sedona's teal arches

Don, great picture of the exterior of the church. Somewhere around here I have the same photo that was taken back in the mid 70's. I had forgotten about it until I saw this. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. JD

    Railfan Roadtrip to Rhode Island

Rhode trip follow-up Made it home safe and sound. Too much to see in only a few days but had a blast. As far as rail/transit goes (will not bore everyone with other stuff) Manhattan and its subways are very old and dirty, but from an outsider it is a very efficient way to get around Manhattan...

    Not-so Well Known Shortlines

Jetrock, seeing as you are connected to CSRM, is there any public data base that CSRM has that we can look at and get more details on this thread topic? JD

    Computer Track Layout Programs

Yahoopsie has a group for anything. Next thing you know they will have a group for how to use The Gauge list<g> For me, I have XtrkCad installed, but will stick with the Atlas RTS application as that is what I am familiar with. Old dogs - no new tricks.

    Railfan Roadtrip to Rhode Island

From another source, (Roger Kirkpatrick) in Colorado, I was given a list of captive cabooses in the RI/Conn region. That will be part of my vacation mission to the NE states. However, this has me wondering about motive power in that region and what roads reigned king in the early 1900's...

    Computer Track Layout Programs

Hey, Shortliner - we have to swap phone calls, but my wife would kill me if she saw this long distance call. I guess each CAD application has its learning curve and I just wish I could figure them all out. JD

    Computer Track Layout Programs

I have also downloaded the XTrkCad software, but have never really figured out how to use it as easily as I figured out RTS. The other thing about XTrkCad is that the library has several obscure manufacturers that I have never even heard of. That being said, I recognize that the software has...

    Computer Track Layout Programs

I use Right Track from Atlas, but realistically I suspect that any CAD program is about the same. Use what you like and are familiar with.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Essex Valley railroad. I had forgotten about Acela and even though I despise AMTK, I may sacrifice my principles and take it for a ride.

    laying curve track to lean

OK - I get the overall concept of "the lean" but realistically does it really matter on an HO scale application?

    laying curve track to lean

Silly question, but why make the rail lean in the first place? JD
