    New layout in the works.

Nice job on the signals! I really like your schematic. Covers the layout without redrawing the whole thing. Also like that it will be labeled, so that others can figure it out quickly. So is Gern Industries an inglenook?

    N scale radius versus HO

Joefryfry, My Kato AC4000's and SD70Mac's will run on 9 3/4 track, however, as long as they are, you might not like how much track is visibile in the middle of the engine. Also, I have to use the long couplers that come with the engines to be able to pull things around the track without fear of...

    First railfan video

Nice catch! I am like you, I would try to get stopped by a train as well. Was hoping to see you drive off with your camera out the window.

Looks like there is some fun switching opportunities there.:thumb: Don't drive the trains off the cliff :-)

New site design, test and comments please...

I like that the page is shorter and that the wider column is long enough for the narrower column. I think you might want to make the forums button available on the top menu bar as well, since you may get users that come back just for the forum and may not like having to scroll to the bottom of...

    What About Passenger Service?

Somehow there needs to be a way to get the local passenger services connected. Trax is very popular in Salt Lake City, and I have heard that Frontrunner has parking issues at the stations so they must be popular. So you can get from Ogden through Salt Lake, and eventually Provo for reasonably...

New site design, test and comments please...

I like the overall look of the color scheme and the top news story changing. I don't know how I feel about the 0|5|10|15 thing , and I definately don't like it when they are closed as it make the "minor" column longer than the wider column. I think I would make them all open at the 5 level and...

New site design, test and comments please...

In the right hand column above the hostgator ad, there is nothing for about two inches on my web page. Edit: Oh nevermind, my filtering software is blocking the movie (I guess) that is supposed to be there. However, that might be something to think about that filtering software is blocking...

    Golden Valley module

Once again, great work! I love to see your great skills on display and I hope that someday I will have the skills (and the tools) to be able to do the good work that you do. I really like how you can plan your terrain right into the wood, makes for a very 3-D world. Great job!

    New Desktop Layout

I finally finished painting the rocks and I painted the lakes and covered them with polyurethane, which wasn't the best idea as in seeped into the walls, but it is ok as the monitors will be sitting there and won't be visible. Here is the right circle: Here is the left: Lastly, when I got home...

    Amtrak Train Hit

I will never understand why people can't wait a few minutes, sometimes only a few seconds. I was told someone went around the crossing gates on the FrontRunner line, fortunately nothing was hit. But please!? a FrontRunner train is an engine and maybe three cars long. You really can't wait that...

    This ever happen to you?

Wow! That was close. Those protestors are lucky that they didn't get run over. If they sabotaged the track, they should have given themselves more clearance. Nice job on the painting, he has real talent. Whenever I do paintings, I have a hard time telling what it is.

    More ballasting Q's

A club member showed me how to do this. Get the ballast where you want it. Then using a pointed tip bottle filled with alcohol and water and very little detergent, run the point along the inside of the rail watching the liquid drain down the slope of the outside ballast, make sure it reaches...

    New Desktop Layout

Finally Some Color! Thanks Chessie6459! Took a major step today! I pulled all the tape off protecting the track from the plaster. Last night we experimented with scupltamold and after using plaster, I love scupltamold, it is SO much EASIER to work with. I gave the layout a coating of...

    An Update

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. Very sorry to hear how long it took to finally find out what was wrong. Hopefully someday we can find doctors that do medicine instead of just practicing it. Hope that you can get the surgery scheduled soon and be able to get back to work. And more importantly, get back...

    New Desktop Layout

Armed with more caulk, I went on a building spree tonight. I finished shaping my mountains in the back: Here is a side view: We went as a family to see the movie Wall-E while all the glue and caulk dried, when I got home I started in on the plastering. My wife thought my messy fingers were...

    New Desktop Layout

I have built a some more of the hill, but I have ran out of caulk so I can close off the hill or glue any more retaining walls on, so I guess I am done for now. I got the tunnel caulked together underneath so that is in. Here is what I have so far: I wanted a flat area in the mountain because I...

    New Desktop Layout

I have started the substructure on the back of the hill. I think so far it is looking really good, which is kind of a shame since it will be back behind the monitors and not very visible, but hey it is good practice and hopefully each thing I do will help me get a little better.

    New Desktop Layout

Well, after everyone here suggesting plaster clothe and a guy in the train club teaching an easy way to use it, I was all excited to get some and use it. Unfortunately, our hobby shop didn't have any and none of the craft stores did either. They did have mold-a-scene plaster, which I have found...

    New Desktop Layout

A person in the train club made me a couple of tunnel cleaners (long sticks with track cleaners on the ends) that between the two of them, I am able to get everything out of the tunnels that so far I have put in.
