The board doesnt have a real socket for the 8 pin connector, just a place for one. Sounds like the engine was fully functional before the addition of the decoder. The problem may be the decoder.

I save the plastic from packaged items from the store, my wife got a bath set that came in a long, rectangular 1/16" thick plastic container that is clear. Kinda like the packaging from Athearn rtr units is what I use.:thumb:

Ok, heres my dilemma, I have an Prodigy Advance and cant get consists to work correctly. If I use Towerr55 engines solely, they won't go into advanced consist, only old type. If I use advanced consists, I end up resetting the unit I put in as the lead unit. If I use any other decoders together...

Once you upgrade the engine to DCC, most decoders allow for DC operation also. So it can go back and forth between the 2.:thumb:
