    Another long absent modeler

Even more surprising for me was Life-Like going from one of the crappiest to now one of the best you can buy (now, under the Walthers name...) Dave

    Which way?

That explains the bi-directional nature of the NW owned E-L SDP45s. Learn something new every day, thanks! Dave

    Breaking it down - Freestyle!!!

I remain in awe of your skill. That is very impressive, and without a jig! :thumb: I need to start buttering you up so when I build my layout you'll be ready to fly out and spend a month laying track here... Dave

    Which way?

I would still run 'em any way you want. Did CP run any GP7 or GP9s long hood first? That would put the engineer on the other side of the cab. Dave

    Which way?

I understand your logic, but the engineer on a locomotive sits on the right side of the cab, the opposite of an American automobile. Dave

    Which way?

Many roads ran their first diesels long hood first, a carry over from steam days. The Southern and Norfolk & Western ran LHF for their whole existance. But even their successor Norfolk Southern had joined the short hood forward crowd. Dave

Ralph, it's all good! I was previously a Conrail fan. Actually there will always be a soft spot in my heart for Big Blue. To me, CR was just a new Pennsy, and PC was the ill-fated attempt at PRR eating up the NYC:mrgreen: Anyway my hat is off to anyone who models PC, the most neglected RR...

I love this thread. Seriously, you guys are some really talented people. Great looking cabins!! Here is a pic of some of my cabins. Please forgive my lack of track or scenery. I am trying to sell my house and hopefully I will have a large unfinished basement soon. You guys know that I have...

    FL9 question

No. FL9s and all other F units M.U.ed the same, and there were no power cables between units (except for the rebuilds with HEP), just the M.U. jumper and your pnuematic hoses for brakes and sand. And no, I don't have any source of proof or documentation on that. Dave

    Model Roster Shot

Thanks for the tips Doctor. I lettered that hippo back in 8/00 (hence the #800) and don't even know where the rest of the leftover lettering is. I decided it will be a worthy investment to buy the Rail Graphics decals. They are resonably priced and one order should last me a good long while...

    Does this exist?

Yeah, I had the owners wrong. I looked it up on Wikipedia after I had made that post and found that Espee had the first 3 DD35s. All the other DD35s and DD35As went to UP. Sorry 'bout that y'all. As for DDA40X vs. DD40AX I don't know. Shoot, I don't even know what the "A" stands for.

    Model Roster Shot

Thanks Ralph. The B&P lettering came from a dry transfer set. Unfortunately you can only letter a couple of pieces of stock that way, and you end up with a bunch of letters you don't need. I am about to place an order with Rail Graphics to make me a bunch of sets of lettering in White...

    Model Roster Shot

For no real reason here is pic of some of my favorite stuff. I don't have a layout right now, so temporarily all I can do is work on my models and admire them. Starting from the back left we have Potomac Line #800, a Life-Like Proto 2000 Heritage 0-8-0, my first and currently only complete...
