    Stop the madness......

Since we're on the subject, why is it when I click on the link in the email it takes me to the beginning of the thread, not the first post since my last visit? Dave

    fox trucks

The oldest piece of rolling stock on Conrail's roster was a snowplow, equipped with fox trucks that had been converted with roller bearings. I believe it was in service into the 1990's. I do not know if it made it to the CSX/NS split. Dave

    Tropicana

Got to run 'er a few times Richmond/AACA-Phily/RG, was the second hottest train on the division at the time. (behind 175/176, trailer trains) Dave

    ground cover

I like the left one. I don't know how dry your climate is, during late summer here my yard looks more like the one on the right. For deeper appearing forests I would go with a darker ground color to simulate the shadowy nature of lots of tree cover. Dave

I use whatever brown, tan, or green latex paint is on the "oops" rack at Lowes and sift the ground foam directly onto the wet paint. Dave

    Proto 0-8-0 Price!

The Proto 0-8-0 is an outstanding locomotive. I think part of the price is that it comes DCC ready and with sound. Mine is from the first release with no DCC or sound and is awesome. Dave

    NASCAR fantasy league 2008

I would but I don't even watch anymore. I like to see different drivers win each week. They might as well call it Hendrick's Cup Racing. Not trying to start a debate, just giving the reason I don't watch the races or participate in Fantasy Nascar anymore. Dave

    Model Roster Shot

A new aquisition, and possibly the ugliest engine I've ever bought... I am going to do some C&O research and see if I can find a less repulsive paint scheme to put this BL2 in. C&O did have BL2s... didn't they?? I hope so... The final result of my I-12 Wagon Top caboose build. I highly...

    Anyone have this happen before?

I do not want to hijack the thread but one question... are photo hosting websites considered linking to another website's photos? I have my own website and have been using it as a photo host so when I post a thread with pics I use it. That is okay, right? Dave

    Crazy Talk!

I'm saying go for it. Sounds like you already decided that anyway.:thumb: I can't imagine a prototype railroad ever using such a complicated/expensive peice of trackwork for a spur or cabin track, but you don't have any other place for it and it would be such a waste to not use it... I like...

    First Freight car

Hi Coach Congratulations on your first freight car purchase! You will find quite a bit of enjoyment from building your own freight cars from kits. The Branchline Blueprint kits are fantastic and have great details. You could use this kit as a learning experience and build it with what comes...

    Model Roster Shot

Ahh, yes indeed it would. Few paint schemes of any road can match the beauty of the Chessie System scheme, but I have just been dying to do this paint scheme... Besides, I have a Chessie Noreaster to pair up with that SW1...:thumb: Dave

    hopper size?

But for really dense commodities you can't fill a 4 bay car to it's capacity in cubic feet. The car will be at its weight capacity but only be 1/3 or 1/2 full. So you still need the same amount of cars as you would if you used 2 bay cars filled to the top. A 20 foot ore car carries 100 tons...
