    City Scene

Some great examples of city railroad elevations can be found in the Northeast. The West Philadelphia Elevated and Deleware Extension (collectively referred to as "The High Line") of the PRR in Philadelphia. See Wilmington, DE. Now Amtraks NEC, the "new" main is a high speed elevated line...

    High Speed on the NEC

What's neat is the PRR and PC had schedules that bested today's Acela. And that is with GG1s, regular heavyweight and lightweight coaches, and metroliners, they didn't need special built tilt train technology and such modern "advances" to maintain those schedules.

Mixing old and new model trains?

I prefer new locomotives just due to how smooth they run, plus DCC and sound if you want it. But for rolling stock I run anything that catches my eye, from any era, from any country, and any date of manufacture. I like to browse ebay, flea markets, etc. and bid on old stuff, some of which is...

I'm assuming you mean the MEDIA is much worse than we know. As far as railroading is concerned I (and several others on this board) am an insider and have been there done that in T&E service and know that railroading is much safer than the media wants us to know.

    G.E.C's layout pictures

GEC I LOVE your layout!!! :thumb:I am a big Conrail fan. Currently I model PRR and hope to build a south end NEC layout (Benning-Washington Terminal-Pot Yard) I used to have 30 or so CR diesels and in what must have been a psychotic episode I sold them all off. Wish I hadn't done that...

Coal hopper for transition era ?

No, I was answering another post about the coupler spacing, that referred to replacing the coupler with Kadee #5. That is an HO coupler. I think the hopper in the pic looks great for N scale, and believe Bowser cars to be great investments, though I am indeed in HO. Dave

    1880's paycar

NKP I remain in AWE of you scratchbuilding skill! That is truly some beautiful work. I plan on scratchbuilding some hoppers and ore jennies this summer, maybe in a few dozen years I will possess enough skill to do a passenger car the likes of yours! Can't wait to see the next progress pix...

    Puddlejumper's (lack of) layout progress...

I changed the stack on the 4-6-0 to make it look older. The headlight and pilot may get changed, not sure if I want to get that deep into it. The passenger car is an MDC/Roundhouse. They made a series of Strasburg RR cars, I picked one up when I took my kids to Strasburg to see Thomas the...

    Puddlejumper's (lack of) layout progress...

A photo of the Potomac Line's old timer, a Spectrum 4-6-0, soon to become B&P "Old No. 17". I imagine the engine crews will take care of her and show some pride! And a going away shot, with borrowed Strasburg RR parlor car Marion and B&P 1, pride of the Cabin fleet, bringing up the rear...

Homemade Decals -- What's the Best Method?

I intend to order some custom decals from Rail Graphics. I feel that the professionally printed decals will be better than anythingI can do, and they will do custom artwork. For the price, I think it will be worth it. When I decal my first freight car I will post up photos for all to see...

    History channel Tonight!!

I especially liked the hypothetical scenario about the train that was behind schedule and the engineer was speeding to make up time, causing a wreck. It's misinformation like this that gets me all riled up about the media. Freight trains are not scheduled anymore, and engineers don't speed to...
