    Slip switch?

I have a double switch (?), crossover switch (?), or slip switch, which it says on the back. Does anyone know anything about them? I can figure it out, but if I installed it, I would immediately forget about how to work it. Does it have any value? And is anyone interested? This should...

    On Track, with Deano

Fairbanks workers Note to Deano: I had thought my dad worked at F-M after WW1,(he fought over in France) but it must have been 1930 when he started. His back was bad, but he stayed till WWll ended, so I reckon about 15 years there. My mother worked there only during part of the war years. Lynn

    On Track, with Deano

More musings and reminiscing Things and scenery have changed drastically from my remembrances. Don't take me at my word for distances as I am judging by what it seemed to be to a 5 year old. On Dewey St., our house had only a driveway where the street would eventually be. I would stand on the...

    On Track, with Deano

musings A lot of this is maybe historical-like, but it all stems from and centers around Fairbanks-Morse in Beloit, Wisconsin. A bit of background first. I was born in 1930, moved to Beloit at my ripe old age of 6 weeks. My dad worked at F-M from then on. I will pass on these scribblings as...

    Foam question

peel foam I would definitely peel it off. Anything you glue to it, or paint on it will eventually come off and you'll have to do it all over again. It is a vapor barrier for buildings, and also a barrier to good scenicing. Lynn

    a real doozy

?????? Thanks, Deano. Since it won't twitch at all, something must be wrong or loose on the inside. I can't figure how to get the top off so I'll leave it alone and give it back. I'm afraid to touch it because I can even screw up making a mud pie. Lynn

    a real doozy

Here is where I show my total ignorance. A friend has a BLI diesel loco, DCC W/sound. All I know is, it is a long one w/3 axles each end. He said it wasn't running (right?), and said here, take it home and check it. Now, all I have is DC. Would this loco run on DC? I can't find how to get the...

    For Herc Driver

THERE IS A MORAL HERE! A C-130 was lumbering along when a cocky F-16 flashed by. The jet jockey decided to show off. The fighter jock told the C-130 pilot, "watch this!" and promptly went into a barrel roll followed by a steep climb. He then finished with a sonic boom...

    My first structure

F-M oldtime I am sure Fairbanks-Morse has changed considerably, but I lived in or near Beloit for 15 years (1930-1945). My dad worked there all that time, and my mother, strictly a homemaker, worked there during the war years. It was WAY, WAY, over 3 blocks long, going from the old fire station...

    Question for the (Experts)

curves I tend to G gauge trains in a pediatric clinic, running about 55 hours weekly. A 48" diameter is minimum for running, but that is all the space I had. I cleaned the tracks (brass) with rubbing alcohol, then put Wahl Clipper Oil before and after each curve. After a couple rounds, they ran...

    Model Power flexi Track

flex trak I have used flextrak other than Atlas and never had any problem. Looks don't affect me as I am only concerned with how smooth my HO trains run. The only switches I have used are LL, MP, and Atlas, and I don't care for Atlas switches. Lynn

    Someone knows about this

It is a Buddy L 3 1/2" gauge outdoor train. I had never heard about them, but a friend has one. Does any person have any knowledge about them? Or have an up to date book listing the values? My book is 25 years old, too out of date to do me any good. They were manufactured between 1921 and...

    Did I???

I thought I had seen some pictures here someplace. One was a shirtless biker that if the skin was taken off, all that would be left is a skeleton. He was skinny. Another was a bearded biker. Did I see them on this forum, or was I dreaming? OK all you smart mouths, here is your chance. I left...
