I've seen in many movies that the loco types or facing position change too! EDIT: Also notice in emergencies how hard it is to apply the brakes?? Train drivers are super heros!

    Goodbye to the V&O

Can you send a link to that pod cast please. Yip, I'm also very sad to hear it go. I saw an article in the '90s in MR about it- it was so inspiring and I found it amazing how he always updated his layout!

    trains in movies

Those locos used in The Ghost and the Darkness belong to the museum where I volunteer. The loco with the bench in the front is a "Kitson" tank loco affectionately known as Kitty and she is the oldest loco in Africa- well over 120 years old. Used to be owned by ESKOM- South African Electricity...

    Internettrains.com ? Worst decision ever!

I'm not defending Internet Trains at all. You know of course that Model Power is constantly out of stock of Flex Track because of a licence agreement breach with Bachman. Before the hobby shop where I used to work closed we had a problem for months of receiving flex track from MP.

    Broad Gauge modeling

Also, with regards to the younger generation, they arn't always interested in older technology. They want Acela's, TGV's, Eurostar's, Pendelinos, ICE's, Tenkhansen, etc. That's what makes digital trains good for our hobby as well, the fact that its way more "plug and play" than conventional...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Oy. :-( Yesterday afternoon while coming home from work this guy swerved in front of me and I swerved to avoid him. I hit my car into the barrier while traveling over a bridge and now it's scratched :-( :-( Then today, my mother was driving home and this other lady decided not to stop at...

    Where's Your Layout?

I wish I had a basement too!! Houses in South Africa arn't built with them, or attics for that matter! I have decided though that in the future when I'm able to get a house built for me that I will include a basement in the design.
