I don't know if you can still find those lever types in the US, but even now in modern times there are some places on our railways that use semaphore and lever signals.

Last year while still working at a hobby shop we aquired a certain gentlemans models, he had over 600- that's right 600!- locos of American Flyer, Hornby, Wrenn, Lionel and many British kits. I remember seeing a few HO locos that said American Flyer on them- man were these locos HEAVY!!!!!

I also have that same Bachmann N Scale loco, but got it last year!! My first set was a Birthday Cake, then a battery operated plastic set and another and some wooden ones. But my first real model was a Lima SAR Class 34-200 Diesel, that I got when I was 13.
