Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part V

Hey all:wave: Sorry I haven't been around latley, the computer's hard drive crashed and almost all of the 35 gigs on it were lost:cry:wall1 Took a while for the Dr. Micro guys to fix it, said the hard drive had screwed up a few other things, too:curse: Hopefully the new 160 gig drive won't...

as far as I can see, the front looks like a low short hood for any early RS ALCo unit (RS1 through RS11 me thinks), while the long hood looks like an EMD SW or ALCO S small switcher. Overall, I'm thinking this is an ALCO S switcher with the cab moved foward a bit and the short end of an early RS...

    Ambroid Wood Kit info

Hey all:wave: Back at X-mas time, my uncle gave me this 50-ish year old wood kit for an O scale "payroll car", #183 in a limited production run of 2000 by the "Ambroid" company. I don't know anything else about Ambroid or the kit, nor can I figure out where one of the peices go. Have any of...

Indeed, that is the FT demonstrator scheme. The "road name" is EMD(or EMC, can't remember when the name changed)/GM Demonstrator #103, an A-B set. Along with the sister set,#103A, also A-B, the resulting A-B-B-A 'locomotive' toured the continental U.S. to prove steam was no match for desiels.

hmmm.... judging from the color scheme and that circle-ish symbol in the general center of the car, I'd say that is a presidential car, or some other goverment executive's private car.

SP 6304 Parked in Moscow, ID

Welcome to The Gauge! This is quite an interesting find, I must say. The odd thing here, however, is that this engine NEVER WAS an SP engine, despite 6304 being a number the SP actually used for an F7A. According to other sources I found, this unit is an ex-Via F unit that was repainted to...

I like it as well! Certainly better than my first kit and it's weathering job (think Hitchcock's The Birds and that they all used the building as a litteral "dump" if you know what I mean:twisted::mrgreen:)

You're welcome!:thumb: Actually, the prime movers in 6930 are indeed still there, and although currently non-functional, the 6930 still can M.U. and act as a control cab for the engine(s) linked up to it, therefore technically the only other working DDA40X in the world, with 6936 obviously...

need some help on my shelf layout

hmmm... for the grade to staging, what about a rear track hidden behind big scenery (Hoffa Cement comes to mind), so the track can have a long run for the grade down. Or maybe hidden elevators?:p

Considering you want ANOTHER one of those, maybe you should consider making more space for the Rock Valley Division, complete with Odge..no,too large an area needed, maybe just an engine servicing/display area:mrgreen:
