CN units on maneuvers in Sussex

CN units 5746, an SD75I and 2509, a Dash 9 backing downgrade to cross Maple Street in Sussex, New Brunswick. Back up onto the main with an NSC(?) covered hopper in tow, likely from the Shur-Gain feed mill. Clear of the switch, the brakeman throws and secures the points while the lead...

    P2K Drive Shaft Failure

Since the drivetrains of the P2K locos are basically built from Athearn parts, replacement parts from Athearn should fit. It looks to me that what broke is called a 'splined coupling'. If you can measure the length and compare it to available lists, getting replacements should be easy and fairly...

    Computer desktop

Hi David It's really easy to do....bring your desktop up and press 'ALT' and 'Print Screen' <--it's beside F12 Then open your graphics program (Paint Shop) and press 'Ctrl' and 'V' and your image should pop up. Then you can manipulate it's size and save as a .jpg or .gif or whatever you...

    CN Switcher - what colour?

Check out the following link for some pics...there are a few switchers which have red cabs, at least when they were photographed. http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/othen/rrpics.htm Pete edit: I should have checked that link first  ..it wasn't the one I was thinking of. Try this one...

    Image Restrictions

I'll vouch for IRFAN as well....it's easy to use, images can be manipulated in many ways, and I've found that for some unknown (to me, anyways) reason, it seems to 'save' the images in a smaller filesize than Paint Shop with no loss of quality. An enthusiastic Pete

    Changing Engine Lights

Any consideration to using a small, white LED instead of a bulb? The make almost no heat, and are automatically 'directional' by nature (not sure if steam loco's operated that way or not??) The LED's are available in 3mm and 5mm sizes, and will also need a resistor to keep from blowing up...

    Stripping.....paint, that is

An infrequent poster but a frequent reader (namely me) is starting to get things into gear by repainting and detailing a few locos and cars. I have some that need to be stripped of their current paint as it doesn't quite come even close to matching the finished scheme, and was wondering about...

    Location, Location, Location

Hi BDC I was in Lawton in '99 on a vacation trip; drove down with a bunch of people I met on the 'net to Norman; drag raced at Thunder Valley in Noble; went on a sight-seeing tour down to Lawton, through Fort Sill, visited Geronimo's gravesite, went up on Mount Scott (whatta view:) ), and had...

    Location, Location, Location

New guy who's been lurking in the shadows Hey, people! I've been registered here for a while, just have had nothing to add to anything yet (I'm quiet in real life too). I live in southern New Brunswick, Canada and there is not much railroad action around here unfortunately. I don't...
