Yep, it sounded like four wires, because there are four wires used.

    an ebay "go figure" (rant)

Same here - I'll rarely bid again after placing a first bid, unless it's something I'm just feeling out. And as for selling, sometimes it's great. You can have the same item(s) listed for several weeks with no bids, then all of a sudden you'll have a bidding war where the price ends up much...

    Easy and quick question

You'll have two leads from your power supply, + and -. Wire all the black wires from the switch machines together, and hook them to the - side. The + side from the supply will go to the center lug of each (electrical) switch, and the two remaining wires (red and green?) from each switch...

Anyone ever repowered an Atheran RDC?

Ernst offers a re-gearing kit that gets rid of the rubberbands and makes it direct-drive similar to the majority of their diesels. I saw one hack job where someone used an F/GP powered truck in one, but the wheelbase was wayyyy off. A third option is the hard-to-find PFM SPUD unit, a...

    Painting questions.

Best advice would be to practice on something expendable first, until you get the hang of spraying.

Big Nor'easter fixin' to kick our butts tonight...

It's been the same here on the East Coast as well; up to this one, only two storms have hit my area, and the ground has been mostly bare since mid-December. We're forecast to get only 5-10 cm (2-4") from this one. It only started to snow at about 3PM AST, so the worst is yet to come.

Where's the best place to get high strand count Welders Cable for Trees?

Hi Don He's referring to the cables used mainly for an electric welder; you're thinking of the electrode (or rod) that is consumed during the welding process. Tommy, another source might be some old lamp cords - they use a lot of fine strands as well. Although the welding cable would provide...

Modifying 85 ft Con-Cor HO Pass. Cars

Hi George I acquired several of the IHC/Rivarossi car that had the 508 conversions already done; the previous owner (or whomever did the work) had just glued the adapter into the truck. As long as it was positioned correctly, it should be fine that way.

    Help with CN Numbering

Here's a link to the steam roster http://www.cnlines.com/cycl/loco/cnsteam.html And a link to the diesel roster, broken down into active and retired engines http://www.cnlines.com/cycl/loco/rost.html I'm not certain, but it looks like CN didn't have any RS-3's but they did have RS-18's and...

    ebay a good choice?

The best way to tell, is by looking at the sellers' feedback rating and comments posted therein. Even the best people can have a bad day, though. Often you have to read between the lines. Don't jump on the first one you see - check around and what else there is as pricing can vary widely...

    Filling down a metal Chassis

A bastard file will remove metal more quickly than a 'regular' file. A bench grinder or belt sander would make quick work of it. Just be sure to work carefully so you don't remove too much, or that a grinding wheel doesn't grab it out of your hands. You should also remove the motor and trucks...
