What do you mean by "compatable"? If you mean can they run together "mu'd" the the answer is maybe... I have 4 ATlas engines and none of the 4 run the same..... My 2 GP38's are the closest and are mu'd and seems to work fine...

I have a question with MU’ed loco’s that are used for local switching. Is there a reason for this? Here in the Indianapolis are CSX does a LOT of local switching and they tend to run two engines lashed together on a regular basis. IN fact they tend to keep there local switchers lashed together...

Most here in Indy are MU'd. At all the local CSX yards(2-3) they just have groups of lashed up engines. Usually 2 gp38-2's or something like that. In this pic if you look in the background of 1st pic you can see ANOTHER set of mu'd CSX engines behind these two
