Hi Doc:
I spent my first 37 years in NoVa. Here’s a few favorites.
The museum Trainnut has circled is the Natural History museum. The one you want is to the left. Has a nice collection of old cars near the train. At Dulles Airport is the new air and space annex. It houses an SR-71, Concord...
"What a Crock!" yelled Jake as he pulled the throttle open and spun the drivers over the chicken feathers and manure. Pulling the sand dump he got the consist rolling forward. "WHOOO--WHooooo" yelled Jake and popped the cassette into the boom box sitting next to him. A low steady bass line eased...
13M:
Sounds like you're on your way. Be sure and price out your stuff before you start to make sure you can cover the cost. Don't forget to buy trains! Also, allow for some wiring, glue, and other misc "stuff".
TC:
Great layout work. You're right about the second layout being more complex, but...
Hi 13M and TC:
TC; Try canting the backdrop. With the yard at the top of the layout, cant the backdrop from upper left to lower right corner. This helps break the layout out of the "all lines are parallet" box and makes the layout look more natural. Also gives opportunities to hide the end runs...
Hi:
Couple of things to watchout for:
When pulling apart two sections of track, make sure that when it lets go your hand will not fly into the end of 1. the track pin on an adjacent piece of track, the pins will go through your hand, 2. the end of a section of Gargraves or similar track...
Hi:
I’m still a novice at trains but I’ve been drawing buildings for 25 years so thought I’d throw a couple things into this discussion. Most of what I list applies to buildings built from 1940-45 onward. That’s when “modular” construction materials and “platform framing” started coming into...
Hi all:
I don't post as often as many others, but then, i don't have that much to say! On this subject, i'd like to chime in that this board is still my favorite place to check out what folks have been up to on their layouts, and in their hobbies. Since i currently model in "S" there is not a...
to break out into song, " In the still,....of the ni-ight. Darlin' i'll hold you,...hold you so ti-ight, ... in the still,....... of, ...the he, he,,...........ni-i-i-ght,,, oooo, .....ooooooo,......"
That's when the others threw him off the train.
Lima Beans, the best wholefood to have on the Suppertrain. Well, next to butter beans, asparagus, momma's home cooked greens and green beans and ,,... and.... Hmmm, MUST be lunch time! LAter!
Hi All:
My daughter is a DJ at the University of South Carolina’s radio station WUSC. It’s an alternative type of station with a no top forty policy. The last part means that if a group has ever had a top forty hit then they don’t play their stuff. Therefore, mainly they play a lot of...
A lot of these things are still true, in a way:
Eeny Meeny is still used to make many corporate decisions.
Money issues are still "handled" by monopolies.
It's unbelievable that sychronized swimming IS an olympic sport.
There's STILL nobody prettier than Mom, doesn't matter whether...
