Decoder manual for DCC Atlas GP-9 ?

Thanks Charlie and Deano for taking some of your valuable time to supply some additional information. I agree with Charlie that the definition of "Staring Voltage" might be confusing, it is particularly true with the definition from the MRC manual. But the Lenz LE063XF ( used in most Atlas N...

Decoder manual for DCC Atlas GP-9 ?

Thanks seanm for taking some of your time to reply. I too checked the document at the link you mentioned. For the GP-9 it only mentions the Atlas part # 470299, but not the decoder chip part #. I downloaded the pdf manual of the LE063XF used in most of all the other engines. By default, CV#2 (...

Ol' Mc Jesso Had A Farm

Excellent work mooreway , thanks for the pictures showing the complete procedure. What shade of brown are you using for the barn ? It's not clear to me, is it a commercially available building ? ( if yes, who is the manufacturer ) or do you actually cut the wood yourself ? Jacques

Decoder manual for DCC Atlas GP-9 ?

Last week-end I took the DCC plunge and purchased one MRC Prodigy Advance2 system + an Atlas GP-9 DCC equiped N scale engine. After fiddling for about 2 hours I was able to have the engine running . I'm not completely satisfied because I can't adjust the starting speed: the engine starts to...

I don't think so ( it would be overdone ) but I save the picture because in just 1 picture you have all the variations of the rust color . Some kind of " the rust wheel color" :) Thanks for the picture Jacques

    Signal Review

Thanks nolatron for taking some of your valuable time to write that very detailed and informative review about the available N scale signals. Purchasing signals is not right now on top of my priority list, but I bookmarked the link. Jacques

New site design, test and comments please...

Nice work Ron, your updated website has the most important quality by which I judge any website: It is simple and it easy to navigate . Where is the "Linux" tab in the main menu bar ? :) Jacques

Of course, seeing the layout from another angle changes the perspective quite a lot. I wish the Montreal city council voted to display a Royal Hudson in my local park. Jacques http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee165/Biasedturkey/Switching/Hudson06.jpg

CNJ999, about your concrete road, what paint are you using. ? I painted a concrete road ( twice ! ) last...

Nice work everyone. Tom, I like the traction line next to the train line. Jeffrey, quiet peaceful park ... 5 yards away from the railroad track. Sarge_7, nice pictures from someone who just got his camera today.I wish I could have some intermodal business too on my ... 23" by 12" switching...

    N scale radius versus HO

joefryfry, as a rule of thumb you divide by 2 to get the equivalent N scale radius. So in your case 6 axles diesel should run without any problem on a 11" radius. Unfortunately I can't even afford a 6 axles engine because my layout is only 25" by 36", so a 6 axles engine would look ... toyish...

Reducing noise in 4 axles N scale engines

Having a very noisy Life-Like ( non Proto-N ) GP9-RM engine ( see a previous thread Lifelike GP9RM , started by Supaned , I found that great PDF file format document about how to reduce noise in 4 axles N scale engines at http://trainweb.org/passengercars/Bearingblock.pdf And the best part...

Mtl To Van, any RR Museums?

Exporail in St. Constant. Nice avatar lol About the trackside guide, I'm quite sure I saw several copies of it at "Udisco" hobby store on Decarie blvd, next to Snowdon métro station. Jacques P.S. Here is my big avatar:

    Lifelike GP9RM

I checked the GP9-RM trucks and they are exactly the same as on the the Proto N GP18 model. I didn't check the drive. The GP9-RM was Licensed to Life-Like by Hobbycraft Canada. By the way, I realise thatmaybe I was too harsh on the non ProtoN models because I remeber that I have a TH&B...

    More ballasting Q's

Kevinkrey, for ballasting I use an eyedropper . I purchased it at my local drugstore. An eyedropper is useful too when measuring acrylic paints for mixing colors and measuring the volume of isopropyl alcohol for diluting. Using an old Elmer's glue bottle for ballasting sounds like a good...

    Lifelike GP9RM

Larry, The first thing that I observed when I opened the GP9RM was the big difference between the bottom side of the frames and their equivalent on the Proto N GP18. They are not the same parts at all. The GP9RM is in the scrapbox ( in my locker ) . I'll see if I can post comparative pictures ...

Coal hopper for transition era ?

I see, it never crossed my mind that Dave might be posting in the wrong forum. No problem Dave. I apology if I sounded sarcastic. Ok, I'm checking with Micro-Trains to see what's available. If I don't find any suitable coal hopper I still have the options to convert my Molson brewery furnaces...

Coal hopper for transition era ?

So Dave what do you suggest ? Should I scrap all my N scale engines and rolling stock then go the HOn way ? Jacques
