    Judy's & Glen's Train Show in MR!

Didn't know about this, thanks for the headsup. Will have to get a copy. The little redheaded kid was almost 5 years old. He could look at a steam locomotive and tell you the wheel arrangement. He could easily rerail HO, and managed N OK, Z was little too small, but with some practice I'm...

To Push or To Pull, That is the Question

Hmmmm... Maybe it depends on the weight distribution and the way the truck is mounted to the frame, if it can swivel may change all sorts of things. TC, could you make it so that the trucks are swappable back and forth, at least for some initial trials before the final work is done? Then...

To Push or To Pull, That is the Question

I have to agree with Cidchase. Bikes have rear wheel drive. The reverse happens when braking, that's why the front wheel brakes are more effective than the rear wheel brakes.

New to the Gauge, saying hello

On this forum we discuss everything from train tunes to train cats to train ghosts. Oh yeah, and all aspects of trains too. And post hi-res photos of some of the most beautiful modelling work ever. But mainly we do this with a great deal of respect and appreciation for our fellow modellers...

    On-line Scam!

Probably the 'outright bloody stupid' applies. Send out 100,000 emails and some sucker will respond. More and more junk mails all the time - the last 2 weeks have been getting many emails on the enhancement of male function and anatomy. Would like to jokingly respond 'not necessary', but...

    Ghost Story - TRUE!

Wow! You really have researched this. Two known deaths in a house with a 'history', 1 RR related. Too bad it was torn down. A wood carver is a modeller and probably would be interested in model trains as well. Cigars could explain the sudden heart attack, maybe he chewed mostly but...

    Converting a Z 0-6-0 to 8 wheel pickup

The finished train. Next time I will use black wire, you can see a little bit of brown where it comes out the bottom rear of the locomotive. Also should have narrowed the drawbar in the middle so I can glue down a scanned and printed image of a mated coupler pair so it looks a bit more...

    Converting a Z 0-6-0 to 8 wheel pickup

Needed a drawbar to permanently couple the wagon to the loco and provide the electrical connection. This is made of 1/32" thick double sided printed circuit board stock.

    Converting a Z 0-6-0 to 8 wheel pickup

Tough call where to post this - kind of a technical scratching and bashing, done to Z scale but can work on other scales. Just won a Marklin Z scale Freight Starter Set. Comes with one 0-6-0 tank loco and a 2 axle freight 'wagon'. The locomotive electrical pickup is only on 4 wheels and it...

    Photos can be bigger

Beautiful! I especially like night scene with the lighted store windows. These are great examples of modelling which cannot be distinguished from the actual prototypes.

Brakie, Did you ever try to find out from the neighbours if a previous owner was a model railroader?

    On-line Scam!

Just got a scam mail tonight from chukwunna@tiscali.co.uk claiming to be an Africa banker (with a UK email?) and needing to find someone to take 30 million dollars off his hands. If not, the money will "be donated to the trust fund for arms and ammunition to further enhance the course...
