    making track grades

That sounds like a pretty possitive endorsement for WS foam grades. I'm convinced! Need to get a few when it comes time for my track laying.

    What would you do????

I would seperate the two sets of track as much as possible - make them their own scene whenever available.

    To reverse or not?

Yep, DCC is, to me, the key here. On my DC layout I had two reversing sections and though it all worked 'flawlessly' I was constantly frustrated by the changing direction of my controller switch. DCC makes reversing EASY. If you're doing DCC put in at least one method of reversing your...

Two Simultaneous Lionel O trains using two CW-80's??

I think what you'll want to do is create electrical blocks of track. This will allow you to choose which controller is controlling each block of track with a toggle switch. Usually this involves an A / B / Off switch for each section of track you wish to be independantly controllable. I had such...

Track for HO scale logging rail road?

Yup yup. I'd have to agree. Code 55 isn't even universal on N Scale yet. And this is my plan - taking out a bunch of extra ties. Also, I may see if I can cut off the 'guide plates' on one side of a few and angle the tie a little bit. The unsquared look is also very common.

Techniques for laying perfectly straight Flex-Track…

I'd employ a large straight edge, like a board or something, to push the track up to the edge of, if you're looking for "perfect straightness". But honestly, if you just string a line on two nails and 'get close' it should look pretty good.

    DHL Train Ad

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PV0vWjoY8M Pretty funny stuff. But do any of the 'name brand' shipping companies actually use trains as transport? I figured they all used trucks and planes.

N Scale Steel Mill Complex Module

That seems like an aweful lot of track for that much space.

    Double crossover mechanism

Hmmm, I don't think the parallel tracks are spaced far enough for On30, though. I can't find any dimensions on it so I can't be sure.

    Double crossover mechanism

I've been looking for a way to mechanically (without electronics and motors) throw all four sets of points on a manually assembled double crossover section. I found this ... ... but the cost of four tortoises for less than a square foot of realestate is a bit out of my league ;) I'd...

    Prepairing to begin again

Yes that's the door to the room. I've already determined it's ok to just remove the door, place it in the closet. A sacrifice thus far ... ;) The aisles are 2' wide, which is enough for me and another person to slip by eachother I figure. And all the little aisle in C and F give operators /...

    Prepairing to begin again

Lets refer to them as A B C D E F ABDE would require a lift-out section to have a large loop around the room ABDE have a full 4x8 'scene' section CF could run a loop on half the room without a lift-out CF have a 4x4 and 4x6 scene area B is the only one that does not create multiple...

    new to On30 - question: On30 for outdoor/garden?

Check out johntealn30's website. http://www.rjroriginals.co.uk/rjr_branch_line.htm I wouldn't really call it a "garden" railroad, so much as just an outdoor layout. But it has to deal with most of the same issues.

Question for 11 08 Logos anyone?????

I haven't set my heart to it yet but I think I'm going to use "P&E RR", being my wife and my initials. We also have cats so we'll probably refer to it as the "purr line". No logo yet though. I haven't found anything like a Pennyslvania & Eastern RR yet either, to steal their logo concepts.

Lionel starter set in the "Toys" Target Ad.

Lionel's website is no help either - though at that price I can't imagine it being DCC.

Lionel starter set in the "Toys" Target Ad.

I think it's a good thing, so long as it doesn't demean or belittle the rest of the hobby. They say it puffs smoke and has an air whistle. Is it DCC?
