Eastern Tn logging on the DG CC & W RR 1928

Sounds like your all foamed out there Bill. I get that way sometimes working with scaled lumber & trying to keep my supply full. I keep a styrene project in progress for that reason, sometimes it feels good to go back & forth. The bridge looks good.:thumb:

Thanks Dave. I give the tires a gray wash then dry brush with some brown & burnt umber, all acrylics. If it dosen't look good I just wash it off & do it until it looks right.

Hey Bill, you are getting more detail out of the foam work your doing than the plaster but I believe it's because of the plaster your using. What is it? It has too much of a plastic look to it. The Structo-Lite I mentioned before has a lot of sand & when dryed looks very much like layers of rock...

    Walthers Terex Dump Truck

Thanks Dave Just wanted to know if you were still out there & if you weathered the Beut yet. My train days this time of year are slow as well. Check out my Log Truck on the last few pages of my Maple Valley Logging & Millwork Thread. It was part of that project so that's why I put it there.Keep...

This would be a great scene to model & you wouldn't even need the mules! I have used the method of the structo-lite on these types of hillsides. Once the stuff sets up a bit you can slide the knife in horizontal angles to give you the compressed rock layer look then go back with some slanted...

Great job guys but carving all that foam can be avoided. I do as Mountain Man mentioned. I layer the foam whether it be 1/2" to 4" depending on my need like making a cake. I glue this using latex caulk ( silicone will eat the foam) & push finish nails through the layers to keep them intact. I...

Tom can't can't help it, he's just being himself, very poetic in what he say's. It makes one want to know what happen's after it crosses the bridge.

Well put Bill. If I might add a few things along the line that you mentioned since Steamhead made a similar comment on my Thread. Like you said Bill most of the stuff we all do is because we've seen someone else do it. I am 54 & started modeling with a Lionel when I was 9. I stopped when I...

Hey Bill, I like the Iron Mountain Ambulance. I don't think I would want to be sent to Dr. Gravestone's office though. Does he moonlight as a stone mason out back of the office? You guy's are great with your ficticious names.

Bill and Tom's EXCELLENT ADVENTURE in Logging and Mining

Hey Sumpter250, Great job on the loader. I have a couple of these myself. I wouldn't worry too much about the boom hitting the tunnels if the roof & smoke stack make it the boom will. I like the bridge as well. I like to play around with the rigging & gears on some of these loaders. If you take...

Hey Mountain Man That's a good idea to let the chain wiggle in the wind, I'll do that the next time. The wheels I use are from Herpa. They have a lot of tire & wheel packages to choose from. I searched some vehicle sites I use & no one has a DeLorean but will keep an eye out for you.

Hey Tom glad to hear your buddy Eric might soon be getting on. My son of 15 models 1/72 scale military & is a perfectionist at what he does. Hey ytter man here is a pic of a truck I really fell for. I ordered a cab like this & was going to attempt a build of it & my wife says " you have that already because I bought you one last year". Then I say I wished ! so I got my trucks out & look what I found not knowing that I did have one...
