The Little River Rail Road in Doc Tom's Back Yard

Very very nice job on the ballast Doc Tom, I like that a lot. What did you end up using? The mulch looks good next to it too. I hope you had a good Christmas & I wish you & your family a healthy & prosperous New Year.

Eastern Tn logging on the DG CC & W RR 1928

Nice process Bill for the doors, simple but yet accurate & functional. I have an engine house planned in my head for later. hamr I wanted to have some functional doors that would open & close individually. I have got to get my layout up & running. I spent some time with the Grand kids yesterday...

Thanks Cidchase, I have already corrected the sign. I guess I was too envolved in finding a prototypical font I didn't notice.

I'm going to wrap this little build up. I'm not detailing it much until I place it on the layout. I saw a Commisary in a picture where it sat in the forks of 2 roads. There was a blacktop road with the RR going past the right side of the building. On the other side was a gravel road going up...

    New Bend Track updates

The dirt I get is top soil not potting soil. It is brown in color. I first zap it in the microwave to kill any organizisms then I sift it. I put the lumps in a coffee can. When I get a good pile of that I put some between two flat patio pavers & grind that up & sift again. I wet the dirt first...

    Working HO Scale Rotary Dumper

Enjoyed your video Marty. I would go with a medium color so you can see the detail & not to light to look too toyish. I like the grays & blues & maybe a 2 tone? One color on the entry & exit walls & the other on the rotary area. Here is an idea. http://members.trainorders.com/pmack/dumper.htm...

    New Trains for Christmas!

I'm not an O Gauger but most transformers need to have 2 wires connecting to the track. If this is an old timer transformer like the one here then you need to find out how many volts your engine is & connect accordingly to the diagram...

I'm sorry I was just kidding about not seeing the raisins. I use gray or tan base coats mostly. My washes I use gray, tan & black. I mix the gray & tan 50/50 with water. The black I don't use as much paint maybe 8oz to 16oz of water. Sometimes lastly I dry brush a little white to highlight the...

Nice idea on the wall hooks Bill. Is your wife a Titan fan? I am a Bengal fan & an avid fan of Brett Favre. Today's game was not fun to watch.

Very nice job Dannparks. Enjoyed your site as well. When I glue foam board together & after carving I paint first coat to cause any layer seams to show up. I take spackling compound & fill these areas with my finger slightly not to make a smooth area anywhere. I then paint again. Your fields...

    The Haitian Sugar Train

Very created Doc Tom. looks good & a sound system too! I once saw a picture of a layout out West modeling the Sante Fe. The modeler used copper & leather for his fascia, what a site! Just goes to show once we leave the track there isn't much that's standard.:thumb:
