    How to harden plaster...?

Hi Andrew, Instead of using plaster, why don't you use latex caulk? It remains flexible. It comes in different colours. [Brown, grey, white, clear and some others....] It can be painted. If it is too thick for dipping, you can thin it out to the consistancy of molasses by adding...

New inspiration from the train show.

Use shadow box construction. Bring the facsia up and around to join with the valance. This frames each scene and separates it from the next.

    Scratch built turntable & control

Turn Table Control Hi Big Jim, The 1/4" phono plug and jack should work fine. Track polarity can be controlled with a roller micro switch or you can use a DCC auto-reverser unit. You can even use optical detectors for polarity. There's more than one way to skin a cat and here's a...

    Wire for a Wye

Reverse wiring for Wye. Here's what I did. I use a DPDT to reverse polarity on one leg of the wye. The DPDT also throws the points of the turnout. In my case, it is a stub turnout, but it can be done with point turnouts as well.

Thanks. It's 5' long. With Free-Mo, you don't have to build 2'x4' "Dominoes", and/or anything that is in 2' increments... Those unsociable building blocks for making a fortress for the trainboys to hide in.... Operations are point to point or use "Balloon" loops on the ends to turn...

[Free-MOn30] Expansion of the UC&A Ry.

Hi Andrew, I agree that sharp curves can be a problem, even though most G-Scale stuff is built to go around a 48" radius curve, it doesn't always look good doing it... However, if you break away from a tail chaser set-up and do a linear point to point layout, there won't be a problem...

[Free-MOn30] Expansion of the UC&A Ry.

Hi Andrew, Yes, G-Scale modules can be a real challenge. It's hard to fit much scenery onto a small slab of real-estate. Although, the Gn15 guys manage to put a lot of detail into their micro layouts...
