What era draws your attention the most?

I can't say any modelling era consistently attracts my attention. I can say I have no interest in 19th century modelling, but I don't see that much of it. In real-life railfan photography, it's always the 70s that grabs me. More generally, the 60s to the 80s - diesel era, but not modern...

Interesting. With this modern equipment, the boxcar blends in in a way express boxcars never did.

    Alco / EMD compatibility

Typically, early road freight diesels were B-B cab units of 1350-1750hp, though there were also passenger versions of these models. The passenger-specific models were A1A-A1A cab units of 1800-2400hp. EMD and Baldwin passenger diesels had two engines, but Alco PAs and FM Erie-Builts had only...

You shot the only blue F-unit. And a BAR leaser in the same consist. I'm envious.

    Sugar Hoppers!

Maybe that is prototypical. After all, open hoppers rebuilt with extended sides sometimes have mismatched ribs.

    Alco / EMD compatibility

I wonder why you think that. I wouldn't normally think of those locomotives in the same breath like that, as they weren't exact competitors. As shown above, they definitely did, and their MU and brake systems must've been compatible. Not necessarily as-built, though. Many roads modified their...

Iron Ore Mine & Steel Mill in N

I'm not sure. It seems that one grid square can fit about 10 tracks side by side or maybe a complete turnback curve. And that ratio is wrong. Usable curves aren't that tight, and real turnouts aren't that steeply angled.

    New Electric Lines in Canada?

That's from the old 3000V DC electrification?

Uh... what size grid is that? If it's what I think it is, there's no way that plan will fit.

I can see why you'd think so (the prominent steam pipes), but no. A USATC engine would have sloped side tanks. This is a Chinese GJ class.

    New Electric Lines in Canada?

In the 70s, they were considering a Vancouver-Calgary electrification. At the same time, some US roads were also planning large electrification projects. The biggest was the idea of electrifying the whole Santa Fe mainline from Chicago to the West Coast!

Utah Railway, not Utah Belt. That's Eric Brooman's freelance line.

This is the train that started it all for me, but what could it be?

Take a look at the picture above - it's not a Hudson. I can't see the pilot wheels clearly, but it's a Dreyfuss-styled Berkshire or Niagara!

    A piece of history

Interesting - 54 has a four-bulb headlight, as some Milwaukee engines once did.
