help needed, with Tomcat Bunny girl

Kevin, A4 format will print nicely on legal-size (8.5 x 14) paper which is readily available in the USA. I'm not familiar with stock photo paper sizes so you still might have to cut that down to A4 (210mm x 297mm) as suggested.

    Shipyard 1:96 HMS Chatham

The Chatham a typical single-masted ship of the period. It has a sharper entry than the bluff-bowed Dutch yacht and is of deeper draft without the leeboards typical of the Dutch coastal water sailers. I have not found an illustration yet (but haven't really been looking either...) Once I get...

    Shipyard 1:96 HMS Chatham

Tirta, Thanks for the kind words. I'll be back at work on the Chatham soon. The Dutch yacht is unarmed; HMS Chatham has 6 small cannon.

Digital Navy 1:250 USS Arizona 2004

Hull halves joined, bottom plating done. I started the side plating in the bow area then read the instructions again and discovered I was supposed to start amidships and work fore and aft in order to maintain proper alignment of the waterline boot topping (black stripe at waterline.) <sigh>...

I believe the correct technical term is "mouse ball toe jam."

    Shipyard 1:96 Dutch Yacht

To recap - (1) I made the hull former laminations too thick, (2) I didn't laminate decks to 1mm before glueing in place and now (3) I have discovered a slight twist in the hull as I started planking. I didn't pay attention when doing the initial framework glue up and let a twist creep in. This...

    Limited release

Get it! Got it! Good! May have to push this one up the "to build" list a little. Thanks for instantaneous delivery, DeWayne and grats to Roman for another gem!

SS KRAKOW in 1:400 scale by JSC No. 42

Lovely, simply lovely! All the more impressive because of the scale. I can't manage 1:250 fiddly bits, let alone 1:400. Great job and excellent photos and writeup!

Another warship gets its keel laid.....

In Tim's defense (if he should need it) is a model ever REALLY finished?

Digital Navy 1:250 USS Arizona 2004

Tim, I think you got a better breeze on the last tack and are out in front again. I just hope that when the skins are on them no one will see my slop job on the inside - :( It is interesting that we each went at it from opposite directions though. If I had it to do all over again (wait...

    Shipyard 1:96 Dutch Yacht

Gil - thanks for the tip - ordered! Jim - in my experience, it is not possible to be overly anal - Good point on the stickums adding to the thickness of the lams, though - that is significant when working with some of the tight fits in these models.

Digital Navy 1:250 USS Arizona 2004

I ordered this after seeing the construction photos on the DN website. After printing everything out and laminating enough 1mm for the hull parts I just sat and stared at the pile of paper for awhile. No matter what nit-picking comments I may have as things go together, this is an amazing...

    Shipyard 1:96 HMS Chatham

The second kit in Shipyard Nr.12, the other being a Dutch yacht. Started this one while still in a pout about getting off to a lame start with the Dutch yacht. Hull parts are 1mm this time (as they should have been on the other) and I have been double and triple checking the diagrams before...

    Shipyard 1:96 Dutch Yacht

I have worked out a "formula" for laminating which is giving excellent results now. I arbitrarily defined 110 lb paper as .25mm and the backing boards for comic book archival storage (high density, smooth finish cardboard) as .75mm. So a 1MM lam is one sheet of each and it is easy to work out...
