    Whats wrong with Atlas Turnouts¿

Hi Harold. You didn't say what number Atlas turnouts you have. The bigger turnouts seem to cause less problems. I use #4 CL's on my layouts ( that's all I have room for ). I had 2 that no matter what I did, trains always derailed. Once replaced, everything was fine. The others, my trains would...

    planning possible expansion

Les, I vote for the 8 x 48 also. I am finding that planning for a squarish area ( like 16 x 24 ) is lots harder and you usually end up with some wasted area. Loren

The scalescene building did not seem that hard to build, just repetitious from building up layers of cardstock. I think cardstock is a good meduim for structures, especially if you add details. I found the...

    The Planning Summit

Curved yards look nice but they can be a pain. The one I operated on long ago had 36" curves and we had to nudge the couplers over a little bit to get them lined up. It's good your finding this now before it's to late. Loren

Sure Bob. look here. And I know what you mean about structure placement. Seems like you spend more time moving buildings around then you do operating. http://www.zealot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=162057 Loren
