Halinski Pz Kpfw II Ausf C build thread

Sorry but no - the Pz IIC tracks were centre driven - the Pz IIL tracks were driven from extensions on the edge of the track links. I think the hull is narrower on the IIC and the suspension is completely different. Regards, Charlie

Halinski Pz Kpfw II Ausf C build thread

How about: http://maquettegarden.free.fr/Vehicules/Panzer%20II/index.xml Panzer II Ausf.C (PzKpfw II Ausf.C) Walk Around Page 1 Walk Arounds I think it could be argued that the grey colour on the Halinski Pz IIC is too light - RAL 7021 was a very dark grey. Regards, Charlie

    WW2 over done?

The most modern AFVs don't have too many complex curves - tanks like the Challenger, M1A2 use CHOBM armour which seems to be formed as flat sheets. The tanks immediately after WW2 used fairly massive castings which do have many compound curves. Perhaps the small numbers of WW2 British and...

    WW2 over done?

I'm not sure it's all WW2 armour but more specifically German armour. There are many model subjects which have been ignored especially British and American armour. For example, how many models of the Matilda are there?(none) - arguably it was at least as important as the Pz III. Flymodel...

    [NEW] WAK - Pz.Kpfw. 35(t) - 1:25

WAK does it again! The Pz 35t was an important tank in the early part of WW2 but there hasn't been a good model of the 35t - until now. 2500 parts in a 170 mm model should keep me interested for a long time. Regards, Charlie

    HMVS Ceberus, 1:200, PaperShipwright

Would that it were true - the Cereberus (aka HMAS Platypus) was sunk in about 3 metres of water in the 1920s to form a breakwater in Port Philip Bay. The hull has been deteriorating over the years and there is real concern it may collapse. There is a partial restoration project underway but the...

    Request for WW1 armour models

It's on the list. The cardmodel references should be up on the Landships (Landships - A site for WW1 Military Modelling) site this week. If I've missed any please contact the site owner with the details of missing models. Regards, Charlie

    Request for WW1 armour models

Here's the list of WW1 models I've assembled - thanks to everyone who contributed. ( I'd like to append it as a file but I don't think that works currently ) Regards, Charlie ================================================================================ Combatant - France...

    kettenkrad

I noticed that there is supposed to be a cover over the engine with a couple of air inlets behind the driver - like this one - http://www.kettenkrad.com/Kettenkrad.gif. - is this a problem with the kit? I don't think the Kettenkrad would be much hotter to drive around than most other...

    willys jeep black & white

Looking good. It looks like you're building from scans of the original kit - it's often a good idea to clean up scans and get rid of the artifacts caused by the scanning process. This guy (How to clean up a scanned image: engravings) has a bunch of tips on how to do this with Gimp. Do you...

    Request for WW1 armour models

To return to the original intent of the thread.... 1. Does anyone know where Kampfflieger's LK 11 model can be purchased? It used to be on Hobbyfactory but doesn't seem to be there now. 2. Is the 1/25 Modelcard A7V model still available? If so - where? Regards, Charlie

    Request for WW1 armour models

I dropped an e-mail to the admin of the Landships site (Landships - A site for WW1 Military Modelling) noting that he had modelling sections for many of the vehicles described on the site. However the models were all plastic or resin. I suggested he adds the available papermodels of WW1 armour...

[scratch build] T-20 Komsomolyet - Light Artillery Carrier - Gallery

The T-20 was based on tankette designs so it's not going to be a big vehicle. On the Russian battlefield site (The Russian Battlefield) there are images of T-20s towing both the short barrel 76mm ZIS and 45mm anti-tank guns. The standard 1930s set up seems to have been to tow a limber as well...

[scratch build] T-20 Komsomolyet - Light Artillery Carrier - Gallery

Very nice 1/25 T-20 - interesting vehicle which hasn't been modeled in paper as far as I'm aware. I'll presume to fill in some details about the T-20. Designed in the mid-30s as a light artillery tractor - apparently quite successful in that role - the seats were for the gun crew. About a 100...

    New armor Kits

Interesting - the text on the Modelik site is a bit confusing but it looks as if Modelik are releasing single and twin turret version of the T-26 with a number of different turrets for the single turret version. The T-26 is a neglected subject although numerically it was produced in larger...

    Typ97-Shinhoto Chi-Ha Model Hobby 1:25

Who designed the Chi-Ha model? I know that Marian Sobel is designing for Model-Hobby (it says so on their website) - is this one of his designs? Regards, Charlie

    PzKpfw IV ausf H

or rather: Sd. Kfz. 161/2 - Ausf. H or Panzerkampfwagen IV (PzKpfw IVH) I think the zimmerit (embossed) parts for GPM's Jagdpanther are much better than the Panzer IVH - I think I'd build the IVH with the standard parts - the artwork is really good and pretty convincing as a zimmerit...

    FT17 in Afghanistan

Is it really an FT-17? The front idler is a welded construction - French built FT-17s had a wooden idler - the US 6-ton tank (FT-17 built in the US) had a welded construction idler like the images. I think the Russian FT-17s would be long gone by the time the Russians were interested in...

    Modelik T-27

That's one of my first impressions reviews from a couple of years ago - there used to be images with it but they got lost in a server/software move. I'll see if I can find some images of a built T-27 model. regards, Charlie
