And her she is! Aft view Top view Bottom view And forward view Light up shots to follow once it gets dark enough :) Would you believe I started this Enterprise project on the 28th July 2021? With the completion this one I don't think I'm going to build a Star Trek model for a while ;)...

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

And she is complete! But first, in tribute to the outgoing edition, before she is scrapped for parts (read LEDs) You can see the damage to the wings which broke the supports, which was causing the nacelles to droop. And now, the moment I've been waiting for ....

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

Finally, port nacelle complete! (within acceptable standards ;))

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

So I buggered up the port nacelle on the rebuild, take three.... I was in the mood for a "easy win" with the model so I attached the starboard one to the hull.

    Happy New Year

    Happy New Year everyone!

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

I tried that, ended up with brush strokes on the LED and gave a distorted light. On that thought, the bussard collectors on the TOS ships....

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

Well, due to a wiring issue during initial attachment I'm going to have to redo the port nacelle. As a result I get to share wiring photos! It always helps when the template comes with supports as it makes the overall lighting easier. You can cut through and wire on the underside

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

Warp nacelles complete! I'll provide wiring pictures when I start the "lighting thread" :)
  9. Cybergrinder

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

Guess I'm doing the thread then ;) @zathros , I have a but if a financial constraint at the moment so I am cannibalising old PC (USB, printer) cables so I don't know if will be able to do the tracers, but switches definitely are an option!

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

In light of the interest in LEDs in models (pun intended) maybe I'll post a short tutorial thread soon?

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

@THE DC thanks for the compliments! The kit does go together quite nicely, I just make things difficult by putting lights in.... Then you have to think about "light leak" and how to position the LEDs, and compensate when different colours are close to each other. Another issue with lighting is...

So, warp field contained, port nacelle complete
  13. Cybergrinder

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

And now to top warp speed.... Port nacelle almost complete, just the bottom to attach

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

And now, something that every physicist has wanted, the inner workings of a warp nacelle! Paper version, anyway. The two small cylinders are to contain the lights, there's a blue one and a running light directly behind it.

Valid point Rhaven, but that was when visibility was a thing ...Makes sense though.

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

    Rule of cool, I guess

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

Valid points, but the other races don't have their bridges as such easy targets, and I think if the bridge was meant to "eject" we would have seen it?
  18. Cybergrinder

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

And the bridge finished. Thought to ponder, and maybe @RichRod can cast some light? Why do the Federation ships (excluding DS9 Defiant) have the bridge in such a prominent position? i.e.: easy target in a fight.... Anyway...

    Impulse engines done

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

Nice bits of trivia @RichRod ! I've moved onto to the bridge and super structure, first story done And since I did the wiring, moving onto the impulse engines
