    Query concerning Classic Trains Plus

Still 18 months after my last post, I have nothing but the occasional email saying that the items are Nearly ready (they've been nearly ready for 2 years!) My emails go unanswered these days and the phone number on the website seems to go only to an answer machine. Yet David Cooke is still...

    N scale sound decoders

I realize that this might be better on the DCC forum - but as it's specifically N-related, I thought I'd put it here! I see Prodigy/MRC advertize their N-sized sound decoders - are there others out there? Digitrax's website seems only to show HO scale ones? Anyone with experience of these sound...

    Query concerning Classic Trains Plus

Has anyone dealt with the kit-building and painting services of Classic Trains Plus? They are at Prescott Valley Arizona. A VERY long time ago I commissioned a kit build and paint from them, and whenever I ask about progress get fobbed of with claims that it's nearly ready, and about to be sent...

New Build Peppercorn A1 Pacific Loco

More new builds Since my last post, several more new build schemes have come to light. The largest of these is for an LMS Patriot class (aka Baby Scot) 4-6-0. Some quite old classes of tank locos are also on the list. Interested readers might check out the Steam Railway magazine website...

    So what is "narrow?"

Irish gauge Interestingly - although just across the Irish Sea from Britain - Ireland's standard gauge is 5'3". Some narrow gauge lines did exist (some preserved), mostly 3 foot gauge. Wikipedia has an intersting article on the early gauges (inc. 6'2", 5'2", & 4'8.5"), and why this gauge was...

    Huberts Model Railroad Corp.

Huberts Model Railroading :wave:Well, I've just gone to their website (Hubert's Model Railroad Mfg. Corp.!, When one type of freight isn't enough!!) and there's nothing there that says it's suspended. Maybe they were doing an upgrade, or perhaps you had an old address?

    Broad Gauge in N?

Has anyone tried modeling broad gauge in N? There are a range of possibles: 5'3", 5'6", 7'0.25" etc. The last of these (e.g. Brunel's 7 foot broad gauge in England) would look most impressive...! sign1

To keep or to leave behind?

If you do decide to start over, then you may be able to sell the original to recoup a small amount of money to help start the new one. The Model Rail press often has ads from people wishing to sell layouts. Or, as noted elsewhere, you could donate to a suitable organization.

Con Cor U-50 second hand price?

General opinion from n-scale Yahoo group also is that this is way too high. Anyway - if anyone is tempted I saw it in the second hand section of N Scale Supply's website

Con Cor U-50 second hand price?

Hi - do y'all think $100.00 a good price for a Kato built Con Cor U-50, second hand? Noted as good condition, good runner, some signs of wear. It's old enough to be sporting rapido couplers which'll have to be changed, of course! In SP scarlet and gray. :thumb:

    Cotton Belt FTs in combination?

I've got two AB sets of the Intermountain FT in Cotton Belt black widow livery, and very nice they are too! I want to run them in combination, but would like to know whether: 1) The Cotton Belt ran them in combination; 2) If they did, was this as ABAB, or ABBA, or both? Any help gratefully...

    A ? for N scalers

I have kept my 00 (1:76) British equipment to run a small branchline on a lower level beneath my N scale layout. If instead of a spare bedroom I had a full basement (we don't have basements in Louisiana as they'd turn into indoor swimming pools) I'd go with an enormous N layout, but run a larger...
